De'tranion's baalor ale in Shadows Thieves guild house at Docks district. Does anyone have a clue what to do with it? Besides drinking, of course

(Sorry if this has been asked here before, but didn't find any mention with search)

I have found nothing except drinking it. I have never seen any other posts about it. So drink up and enjoy.

De'Tranion's Baalor Ale is just a little something left over from BG1:TotSC.

I don't have TotSC. Please, tell us what was its meaning?

TotSC = Tales of the Sword Coast - the official expansion for BG1.

The ale was a quest item.

Eh, yeah, I know what TotSC is. I meant what was the meaning of the ale, you silly you!

Guess you should drink ale instead of coffee ...we all should! Erhm, reality check: who's gotta go to work tomorrow? OK, we'll stick to coffee then.

I believe you could give it to the kids in the umarhills!

By drinking it, does it increase morale?

You probably could but what would you with the keg of ale that you can buy in Umar Hills then?

The only purpose for the beer in the game is to provide it to those Umar Hill kids, so they can go off and attempt to get themselves killed tracking monsters. When you save 'em, you get some minor league experience.

actually the quest is quite funny, and well worth the giggle....

buy the kids ale and swords, and wait about 1-2 rests, and visit the cave where the mimic was...you did get the short sword ilbratha, didnt you? short sword, +1, a total piece of crap on first glance, but silly me, due to a peculiarity of the game engine, mirror image, a minor spell, provides immunity to area effect damage, the longer you stay, each image will wink out until one is left, now there are a ffew places in the game where you get hit with area effect spells, and its nice for your warriors to hae that protection...eh??

anyway, suffice to say its like that dilbert cartoon of the pointy haired boss running with scissors...

Doesn't the Mayor of Imnesvale get really ticked off if you give the kids the weapons and ale? IIRC doing this as a ranger could result in losing your stronghold.

Any one talked to the cleric of talos, in the graveyard; "Now *Hic* wheres that De'tranion's baalor ale?"

Really? I'll have to get the beer from thieves guild and check it out.

Gudelines for beer...............

if it looks, smells, or tastes like beer, drink it.

If it doesn't pour some lighter fluid in it an drink it anyway.

If it's water, decapitate the person who served you.



Also, I think drinking too much gives you penalties to your THACO and such.

Yeah, and if you drink further more you'll suffer from "Rigid thinking" but also "Luck" and "Strength of one". Way too much drinking, and you suffer from "Blindness" and finally "Power Word Sleep". Continous drinking is followed by "Feeblemindness". Not to mention that eventually all your gold is lost.

But it's worth it!!!
