ToB is supposed to be the conclusion to the Child of Bhaal series

While TOB will conclude the Child Of Bhaal saga, Bioware have not ruled out a possible BG3, however it would possibly be a new tale beginning with level 1 characters.

BTW- This is an internet rumour, and like all net rumours cannot be taken seriously. ;)

I've read an interview somewhere where someone from Bioware said what Tamerlaine wrote...but added that minsc is one of the most loved character and maybe he'll return. Now, i don't like Minsc, but if that means we're going to see a new game like the BG serie.....welcome back Minsc!!!!!! ;)

"I've read somewhere" or "I've heard from a friend" are among the most dangerous phrases in ascertaining the truth about something. We've got a thread in this BG2 area where "someone said" that Interplay was in the process of being bought by another company. Asked for details, there weren't any. I was just told that I should mind my own business, and that we'd all find out in less than a week.

Of course, nothing happened, but it's only one of the many non-results rumors that show up periodically, like Interplay getting out of the RPG business (sure, they're going to drop their proven line of moneymakers).

BG will either continue or not, with or without Minsc, as Interplay perceives it 1) can turn a really good buck 2) with the resources it can apply. For now, expect TORN and NWN as the company's next projects.

So if you do expect it wait a while after Torn(?whats that?) and NWN

@Craig, I think you're missing the point. I'm not saying, "Just wait until after NWN or TORN." I'm saying, "Unless you have something concrete rather than rumor, forget about it." :)

As for TORN, don't you read the headlines on GB each day? ;) I wrote a review of E3 that includes a discussion of TORN.

Bioware have gone on record as saying that ToB is the last product they'll make with the Infinity engine. So if there was (conceivably) a BG3, it will be with a different engine.

The D&D license is another issue. Bioware addressed a question at the May Stratics chat:
Question from [abodi]: With you losing the license for future D&D products, what will happen to NeverWinterNights continuing success and expansion?

Response from Bio_Trent: I'm glad Ray is here.

Response from bio_ray: The license for D&D products is held by our publisher Black Isle/Interplay, not BioWare, but as I understand it expansions to the NWN realm are still feasible. Black Isle/Interplay would have to comment on any time issues associated with their license but NWN shouldn't be impacted by any licensure issues with Hasbro/Infogrames as far as I am aware.
