What happens if a Paladin chooses a evil path in hell? Can he end up with lawful evil alignment?

As I understand it (never tried it myself) you do turn evil but you lose your paladin status and all of the abilities.

Um... afraid not. You become neutrel evil, and Rangers and Paladins become Fallen (basicly normal fighters). They lose their abilities.

But beiing a "Fallen paladin" sounds so much cooler then "Fighter".

But if you do become a "Fallen" Ranger of Paladin, and become a fighter, are you trully a fighter? i.e. Can you have 5 slot specialisation?

Good question. Since you become a regular fighter, I believe you could...
I think I might try that out.

IIRC, you can't.

You can't - I tried.
Also, in the unpatched game, you wouldn't become "fallen", just evil. It was quite funny actually, as I didn't know my paladin had become evil the first time (killed the dragon), and I thought "what the f*** is going on!?" when I casted "detect evil" and my own character highlighted..

but you can using sk, create agoody goody paladin, and sk into chaotic evil, hey if you trun undead, will you commit suicide? evil clerics can turn paladins....
image, you have this paladin, with holy avenger no less, yes, it would obey a evil paladin, and he turns undead, and forgets he is palsdin, so immediate chunk!!!!

as a fallen paladin, you'll lose lay on hands etc. but you retain all the paladin bonuses - eg. amazing saving throws.
So, becoming fallen just means you lose your special spell abiltites.

Interesting User... well I did a little, very primative, experimentation using sk and a multi tob game...
1 Paladin doesnt gib self, as evil cleric he controls undead so he would then be able to order himself about
2 Paladin controls his, still, goodie-goodie friends, or sometimes, when they were lvl 1 makes them run around in fear but no gibing unfortunatly...
3 Paladin does control rather than destroy plain, vanilla undead
Although I have yet to take my member of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart into her guildhall and unleash hell

Druids are nuetral, what are they gonna be, Chaotic Evil and Lawful Good at the same time?
The paladin doesn't lose turn undead as a fallen paladin? What about an inquisitor? Does he lose dispel magic and stuff? And what about rangers? Do stalkers lose their backstab?
Wow, I always thought it would be cool to have a fallen pladin that dind't suck. God, it just fits that story line so much better, you know, goodie two shoes in BG then finds out his true power and becomes a fallen paladin.

Want to become an evil-paladin? Play the slightly overpowered anti-paladin kit in Weimer's Tactic's Mod.

I can just see it now: a druid being deprived of his powers and cast out of the Order, because he "does" lunch with the forces of good and evil, both eager to recruit him.

I never got the sense that your hero was a goodie type in BG. True, unlike the Troika-developed games (Fallout 1/2, Arcanum), you can't really pursue a fully alternative, evil path, but there are a few options to play evil in quests; and you could always take a break from doing good in BG by killing a peasant, or steal regularly from merchants. Your party could be evil and your reputation in tatters, but still you could win the game.

I always play the game as if I myself was the main character. Most fun for me that way otherwise I have a hard time "immersing" myself in the game.
