I am playin "Pool Of Radiance Ruins Of Myth Drannor" I like it but I HATE the bugs...and the trouble playing on the web!!! I am an old P&P guy that is just getting fed up. I know pc games will NEVER replace the P&P...(having just moved to a new community I cant hook up with an AD&D group)....but This game looks so good....and I have heard so much about it!

Baldurs Gate 2 is a great game. Its worth your money. But, conider that in a few months Neverwinter Nights is coming out. It might just be close to as good as pandp.

The BG series was the first games to come along in a LONG while that just grabbed me and wouldn't let go. The story line is great, the game play is great, and best of all, even after several times through, I still can't stop playing.

BG2 is by far superior to PoR, it's the best game of the infinity engine series IMHO and all of them are better than PoR.

Get it!

BG series has been my first D&D game I ever played. It's a great game in my not so humble opinion :) and I doubt whether there would be another game to fascinate me so. My opinion is biased and subjective, of course, but I'd recommend BG series more than anything else.

Neverwinter Nights might be good, we don't know yet, and I hope it to stand to our expectations. Hope I could play it in my pc as well...

Cheers

I recommand getting BG1 as well, the grafix are less then in BG2, but the gameplay is still very good, and its a continuing storyline with BG2

What are you waiting for? Get BG and play that, TotSC, BG2, and ToB, now! You can play all the games AND play NWN. NWN is going to use 3rd edition rules and it is mostly a solo player game or online with a group...you are only responsible for the actions of your own character. The BG series uses (mostly) 2nd edition rules and you control the actions and make up of your whole party. The epic story line continues the great Forgotten Realms trilogy, the Avatar Trilogy. It may seem overwhelming because the games are pretty massive but there will come a time when you have finished everything and will be impatiently waiting for the next game. I guess some people replay the games but I don't. I didn't get BG until after TotSC came out. Since then, I have played the BG, TotSC, BG2, IWD, IWD HoW. I am about half way through ToB and a third of the way through Torment. I will finish ToB before IWD2 comes out and then continue with Torment. I will probably finish IWD2 and Torment this summer all the while playing NWN. My point is you will probably love the games as much as the other members of this board and play them all. If you play them all in the right order, it significanlty enriches your gaming experience because you will really have a history with your characters. The games are top notch unlike PoR and Civ III!

BG2 is the best game ever IMO. Since you are familar with the rules already, you'll have no problem (otherwise it can seem a bit complex for beginners).

Try Planescape Toment as well.

That depends of what you like,
BG(2) is the perfect game, some good dialogue, and chalanging combats.

Planescape, is a lot more roleplaying, and alot of dialogue.
Ie wind dale, is also chalanging, but that's because there are many difficult fights.

And BG is simply the perfect mix!

yeah...a Baldur's Gate 2 forum probably isn't the best place to get an objective opinion, but I agree that BG2 is the best game evr made, and I have played Grim Fandango, Black&White, Max Payne and all the others which 'revolutionised' gaming. I was also raised on pencil and paper AD&D, and I was AMAZED by BG2. You will not believe the immense richness, depth, complexity and style of the game. It is amazing. Really really really amazing. I have found though that after discussing it with several friends who also have BG2 (recommended by me of course ;) ) that it is the people who have played AD&D before that really love the game. The others tend to find the complexity and long dialogues boring (though undeniably adictive)..not enough Bam Bam...though strategy players also love the very complex and tactical combat systme and find it rewarding in a way similar to C&C Red Alert etc...Buy it now.

I didn't try PoR due to awful reviews I read, but I'm somewhat like you, an old D&Der that played 1st ed ...
And I can assure you I never played a better CRPG than the BG series, Bg1 is very good and BG2 even better !!

Here in France we can now have the whole saga (BG1+ToTSC+G2+ToB) for about 60 bucks, I suppose the same goes everywhere, so hurry and buy it ! :D
