What are the Top 5 worst computer games you've played? Why? Did you ever finish them?

Mine(In no particular order):

1.)Diablo - IMO, very boring.

2.)Shogo - Boring and difficult to control

3.)Arcanum - Barely manages to get on here, but is on this list because I can't make much sense of the game yet.

4.)Freecell - Way too addictive

5.)Tomb Raider - Boring

I haven't finished any of those games. I got addicted to Freecell once, but managed to stop playing before I ended up trying to do what my mom is doing, which is playing through every game of Freecell.

I can´t see what is in with The Sims. I find it very lame.
There´s a friend of mine whose father wrote up in sheets of paper the codes for every single freecell game he has beaten... the last time I saw it it was almost an inch thick...

1) Starfleet Command - there must be something I was missing because I just didn't get it. at some point, doubtful, I may revisit it.

2) Counterstrike - too many cheaters online.

3) Quest64 - the all time worst CRPG, console or PC

The others I can think of are also console games so I'll exclude them since SS referenced computer games in her initial post.

I had to include Quest64 because it is the most lame game I've ever seen.

This is tough question, since there are so many... but wait, it's really hard to remember the really bad ones. I must have blocked them from my mind... But here's what I do remember:

* Most boring: Redneck Rampage - take outdated game engine, saturate it with fart and genital humour and make the levels alike...

* Most disappointing: Frontier: Elite II and First Encounters - after larger-than-life Elite these sequels were horrible disappointment. They were full of good ideas screwed up bad. One example: without patch, it was impossible to buy a new ship in First Encounters without game crashing....
Runner ups in this category: Metal Gear Solid (on PC), Anachronox

*Worst games: (I'm gonna be hated for this) C&C series and all the RTS-clones it produced At first idea was excellent, and in Dune2, Warcraft and C&C the novelty of light strategy game was refrehsing. After billions of C&C clones and build-em rush-em tactics I hate them

wow..moleman you've played some pretty lame games.

for me...my sentiments are with SS on this one:

1)Diablo: ughh

2)Shogo: One awful boring useless idiotic unimaginative frustrating boring boring game

3)Rogue Spear: does any other game in the whole of creation take longer to setup than to play?

4)The Sims: I found myself locking people in specially constructed cells and setting fire to them.

5)Carmaggedon: ugh again.

If you look up the word "lame" from the dictionary you'll find my picture in there.

But in fact I can't say that I've played them that much, only enough to form my opinion. Well, except for Final Frontier that had certain appeal to me. Even though it made me absolutely MAD

ahhh I didn't read this bit before.
I never play RTS's other than the very best (as purported by magazines and friends) However, I say that Red Alert (the first one) was fantastic. It allowed very strategic play, even if the AI was abit dumb. It gave options for water assaults, lightning aerial blitzkriegs, strong defences, ambushes, economic sabotage (alright you could shoot the other guys ore truck...) etc. It really was fun and you could always find an ingenious way knocking six shades of shoot into the AI player before he even knew it.

Age of Empires 2 (haven't played the first one) however was dire. It was ammusing for a while when I was learning how to play, but as soon as I got the hang of it I could trounce the comp in every situationa and found myself building custom levels with just one peasant surrounded by a hoard of enemy paladins to even it up. The expansion I played recenty, and it had added loads of new units, but was still boring.

has anyone got stronghold? I might get it on the weekend if it's really good. I played the downloadable demo and fell in love with the flammable peat ditches. Nwah ha ha ha..that's a great ideaa.

I was impressed by the stronghold demo myself, and think it may be worthwhile to pick up.

I agree with the RTS comments made. The only decent one recently has been Star Craft, and that was a while ago.

frogus,

age of empires will be a whole new experience if you play against human opponents. The computer might be able to create units and buildings faster than you, but he doesn't know how to use them.

Carmageddon - ugh, you're right, I forgot about that one and I thought running over people would be so fun.

stronghold looks to be promising although I haven't played it.

Madden 2002...simply because I can't get the game to run on my system yet. I think it hates my video card.

IWD....I LOVE the game, but it is severly cursed as I have documented many times in the past.

Star Wars Rebellion....Not what I had in mind when I bought the game at all.

The Sims....I hate taking out the trash IRL, why would I want to do it in a game?

And I hate, absolutly loathe and despise anything with Mario in it.

I'd say there are more I can't recall, but for the said reasons, these are the most disappointing to me.

HM....I hate Diablo, and strongly dislike Age of Empires.

@ned I did used to play AoE on the net..but I found that the other people split into two categories.

Newbies: Who had clearly just clicked 'tutorial' and then straight after that 'multiplayer' who I trashed.

Wankers: People with phonomenal skill who took great pleasure in destroying my far-inferior forces in cruel and demeaning ways.

It seems that as soon as anyone became good they either lost interest in playing in a gentlemanly or friendly way or stuck to single player.

sorry to spam SS...

Have you stop to think which category you belong to?!? For other newbies you seem like a wanker and for other wankers you seem like a newbie... loose-loose situation :D :D :D

That's true.

I like playing multiplayer games because I like playing with other people, but I usually end up just playing single-player because I can't find anyone challenging to play with.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor
Buggy. Poor gameplay. Unintuitive interface. Gutted of all the good things about D&D. No plot. Yech.

I usually play freecell on the train commuting. (If I had an internal cd drive, I wouldn't) Anyway, the thing with freecell is you know each game can be won, and it is annoying when you don't. I reset my stats after 100 games, and keep trying to get 95+winning percentage.

I wasted $50 on Pool of Radiance 2. Still can't get the darn thing to work.

My brother in law has stronghold. He said it was a little slow, but in the one scenario I watched, he got his butt torched. :D :D

It reminds me of a newer version of Lords of the Realm 2.

Ohh, Dungeon Keeper 2 was a huge disappointment. I loved the first, but the 2nd didn't thrill me.

Do you still have the receipt? I took my copy back to Electronics Boutique and said that I installed all of the patches and still couldn't get the game to work. It was past the 30 days on their return policy, but they let me exchange it for store credit. If you bought it from a retailer, take it back; the worst they can do is tell you "no".

I returned it, and Best Buy let me exchange it for the same game. So, I thought maybe I just had a bad copy.....Nope! Although I might need a better video card, I am 99% sure my is capable of running the game, I just don't want to spend $$ for a new card and still not be able to play it.

Hmmmmm.......maybe I'll just buy a brand new system....yes, that might work. :D **thinking of ways to convince the SO to spend more money** ;)

I thought C&C and the rest of the series was disappointing. My friends kept on telling me what great games they are but I found them to be rather inferior to other RTS I've played.
