Do i absolutely have to accept Imoen into my party in spellhold?
What happens if i do not?
Plus if i do accept her, will i be able to get back the character that I gave up for her?
Thanks

You can leave her if you want, I am not sure about whether she stays behind, but anyone else you leave will not be able to leave Spellhold

I found imoen in the copper coronet but maybe it's just a patch I installed cuz I heard that no one gets out of the asylum if left there... you better take her /w you -she's nice and important for the plot and never leaves your party even when your reputation is extremely low.

If you don't take Imoen, she'll make her own way out of the dungeon. You'll see her again when you clear the dungeon and Irenicus will kidnap her as ususal.
And although Imoen IS important to the storyline, you really don't HAVE to take her.

I wonder, where does this legend come from??!
I've heard that before.
But it's totally UNTRUE!
Imoen is a nice person, if you do nasty things, she leaves.
I experimented once, reaching a low rep, she gets angry
and leaves the party....

@Littiz: I heard this as well (don't know if it's true). It is said that, with ToB installed, reputation will no longer effect whether party members remain in your party or not.

So will you be able to pick Immy up afterwards if you don't take her with you?
This is my second time round and i don't really want her his time, but it would be nice to know that she is somewhere just in case
And is she important to the plot, i remember that there is the incedent with a certain vampish woman
Will i be able to carry on without her?

In bg1 she leaves when rep is very low but in bg2 (tob installed) she gets angry but stays with you - other party members such as minsc and jahira leave... do you think it's cuz of the patches/updates I installed or what?

@Invincible, You don't need Imoen to be in your party in order to finish the game. Once you get her out f Spellhold, it is uo to you whether to keep her or let her go. either way will work fine.

-IIRC the vamp woman (we're keeping it really low spoiler, ah
) said she'd been surprised not to see imoen /w <charname>.
maybe the party got less xp but everything was just fine.

Blood stalker...you said once
you get her out of spellhold....
Assuming i don' get her in my party will she be able to get out by herself and go to the copper coronet or somewhere like that.
I don't want to leave any of my party behind and i don't want to not bring any of them into spellhold, i also don't want to leave he in there and never see her again

As far as I know, Imoen and Imoen alone can get out by herself. anyone else will be stuck there. At least everyone I have kicked out for her has been lost for the rest of the game Who is in you party at the moment anyway?

at the moment my party consists of
Atreidies ~ me/swashbuckler
Aerie
Minsc
Jahiera
Nalia
Jan
i am happy with this party and i do not want to dump any of them.

Well, I would drop someone and take Yoshi with me to Spellhold, if you have never taken him, it would definately be worth it. I would drop Nalia and pick her up when I got back.

i took yoshi last time and...well....i saw his 'true colours'
.
i don't want nalia to to miss out on any exp but i see why i should take yoshi instead.

Then I would try and see if Immie gets out. I thinks she does, and a couple others have said it too, or you could wait on Sojurnor or Sabre....they know everything

To each his own, but "Jan" is an indispensable member of your party?? It would be worth it to me just to dump his turnip burping body in spellhold forever!!! The logical thing is to dump Nalia since she is an Imoen clone.

In case you don't know, the reason people are saying Yoshi should go with you to spellhold is that once you kill him in Spellhold, you can loot his body and take his heart to the Temple in the Slums District for 200,000 xp!! (The first time I played this game I took Yoshi with me to Spellhold, and I had already done all the side quests, beefed Yoshi up real nice, then he turns into a traitor!! I was furious!!! I also missed his heart, don't know how I didn't see it, I looted his body, but I didn't get the xp)

Jan can be one of the most powerful characters in the game, i think he is the funniest as well.
Nalia is not a clone of Imoen, she may have slightly worse thieving skills but potions and some items in the game balance that out.
In my opinion Nalia is just better than Imoen....she is also a classy lady (
) and looks much better on the inventory sceen than Imoen hee hee.
but lets not turn this into another Imoen vs Nalia debate

Of course, Immie is smarter than the others, she'll find her way out!
About the reputation thing: the NPCs are prevented from leaving the party
only when you're in ToB areas. I had ToB installed, but was still in SoA,
when Viconia went away after a good action of mine....
I guess that thing only applies if you have finished SoA.
While in SoA, Immie leaves if you are too much a bad guy.
(If she didn't, she wouldn't be as goody as the other good NPCs...
And she IS good!)
