What class?

Me and my friend are going to play a new game with eachother today..
I think we will play without NPCs, so i was wondering.. What class do we need?

try playing a cleric/mage, he'll be able to cast lotsa spells and actually his stuff /w weapons - unlike a pure mage
and the other player will be a kensai/thief - try making(editing) him multiclass and not dual for more fun... me saying so cuz that was how I finished the game in multiplayer and we had losta fun cuz a real person talks more than npcs... but you're gonna advance in lvls too fast and that was really a pain is the ass for me... have fun!

...the cleric/mage can knock doors and chests and also find traps, disarming the traps can be done by the kensai/thief or the "old way" if you feel that giving all the skills to the K/T multiclass will be overpowered. IMO 10 thief skills per lvl /w the ability to add 'em only to hide in shadows, move silently and traps is gonna be k

There is no class that is *needed*..and especially not a thief. A mage will be able to spring all traps without getting hurt or affected.
In my experience it's only in the first dungeon a thief is nice to have around.
I have personally gone through the game solo with a fighter, a thief a bard and a mage - all pure class, and of course with a lot of multi classes.
It's possible with any type of character in my opinion, so choose whatever class you like to play.

wow Syl...how did you do with a pure mage? Don't you have to waste loads of slots on Knock, and then sleep loads if you run out? How long did it take you with each class? I'm thinking of having a go at soloing myself soon....

How are you and your friend connecting to each other? Me and a friend are trying to play but the connection resets all the time. Any help would be welcome.

Cleric/Mage and a Fighter/Thief sounds like a nice duo.. but I'm ignorant and stupid, so don't pay any heed to my ideas
