for my 500th post I thought I'd give you all a treat! A genuine opportunity to find out
where CE got her name! If everyone already knew this and I am just exposing my ignorance just tell me and I'll delete it
As for actually making this thread worthwhile and not get killed off as useless spam I will add the extra feature of a bit about names. Where did you get your SYM handle from? If that's not interesting enough, we can also discuss where your real names came from and what they mean...(if you want but please noone give out information which will enable other people to track them down or endanger them at all)...
so to start us off I'm called Frogus cos me real name's Fergus, meaning 'man of strength' (despite getting a negative number in Sleep's
stud test). I was named after the poet and left-hand man of legendary Irish hero Finn MacHaille (pronounced MacCool)...if anyone's interested...

anyway, have fun!

I quote: C. elegans is about as primitive an organism that exists which nonetheless shares many of the essential biological characteristics that are central problems of human biology.
You are treading dangerous waters there buddy.

Congrats on 500 frogus.
Weasel : From misbehaving in school...Hit and run missions.. Take basketball for an example. Let the two teams get to play real good then toss another ball in.
Michael : Named after my father. I would guess it's from the bible.

Michael - From the Hebrew name Mikha'el meaning "who is like God?". This was the name of one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition and the only one identified as an archangel in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation in the New Testament he is portrayed as the leader of heaven's armies, and thus is considered the patron saint of soldiers. This was also the name of eight Byzantine emperors and a czar of Russia.
so there you go!
@WK no worries...CE is completely past that whole adolescent stage of being offended when people call her about the most primitive organism that exists...right CE?

Well people keep assuming that I'm named after a grunt from UT

. It's from Tamerlane Khan, the lineage speaks for itself really.
As for my name, well its Jean-Christophe, my ancestory dates back to France.

Ode to a Grasshopper-taken from the song The End, by the Doors. The Ode to a Grasshopper segment is only on the Live version, though. There's a store devoted exclusively to Doors memorabilia called Grasshopper, in Amsterdam I think.
Graham-My maternal grandmother's maiden name, reflecting our Scottish ancestry. I was also partially named after my cousin Graeme.

@Frogus - CE was quite deliberate when she chose her name

So there.
This has been done lotsa times Frogus. I'm a Grunt and I'm a boy (of 25). Gruntboy. It was my Quake2 alias online.

Congrats to 500 posts, Frogus
Several people have asked about my name before, so most SYMers probably know the background. My real name is Jacqueline.
I am a little roundworm, tadididadum...

Well said, Obsidian

I may only have 959 cells, but contrary to many others I'm actually capable of some rudimentary learning

Nickname and favourite BG/TOB Character:
"Beldin" (Sorcerer) - The Hunchbacked Disciple of Aldur from David Eddings "Malloreon" series. (his brother and one of the main protagonists "Belgarath" has been used by SO MANY people - I just wanted some variety...)
RL name :
Gerhard.
Name choosen at random by my parents. They wanted a name that had not been used in our family previously.
Since only people with a good grip on the german language can speak my name correctly most of my international acquaintances have taken to call me "G" or "G. "
No worries,
Beldin

by Aegis
Aegis: Latin for Shield. I just like the word, so I chose it as my name. Also, I originally played a Paladin, and felt the name was suited to the whole holy-than-thou act Paladins have.
IRL
Leland: Means Meadow Land. Shorts forms of the name (Lee) means Victourious in Battle.

I have a rather pointless question for you Aegis.
Is there some connection between "aegis" and "cold"?
I have a couple of reasons to think there is.
1.)I've known two people who use the name Aegis online. Both are Canadian.
2.)I was looking at the IWD2 feats at the BIS board and saw the feat "Aegis of..." and it provides protection against cold.

Someone called me a Bloody Stalker a few time.
Actually, I just picked it at random when I signed up.

a lot of people call you that, just not to your face.
@SS: I'm not sure about the cold thing, but for the "Aegis of...", it would roughly translate into "shield of..."
