Lore of the guild

Seeing as we have so many people in here that likes to write stories and stuff I've thought it might be fun to write some lore about the "old guild"

This could be (maybe) used as pieces of information in-game in argyle as a means to discovering our "herritage"

An excample of what I'm thinking of could be, that while adventruing in a forgotten dungeon somebody finds an acient tome displaying military strategies for the Banshee.
Or maybe finds some kind of parchement with names of 2-3 people in an adventruing department of the guild etc.

So basically this would be a chance to write stories about expolits, mundane tasks whatever about the guild (old guild).

Who knows if we work out something good - maybe we can get it put into the game as a means of discovering who and what the Banshee is/are/were.

hmm - don't know if people understand me :)

What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me. So basically, if you've got an idea for a story of the old Banshees, write it out. It can be long or short, important or mundane.

A nice idea, Xandax. I'll let it sit in my brain for a bit, and let you all know if I come up with anything clever - but I'm not much of a writer, so don't hold your breath. ;)

Well if you come up with an idea - just post the idea. I'm sure there are plenty of people here that could pick up an idea and work out some story from it.

Saigo would love this. And so might I ;)

Whatever happened to our official scriber?

Is Saigo even still around? I see that he's online sometimes (rarely), but he never has anything to say.

I assume most of our members will be around much more as the game gets closer to that ever elusive release date. I know, I know, there is no release date so how can it be elusive. :p

Somehow, I doubt we could be rid of Saigo even if we wanted to. ;) :)

Well, I certainly hope not. He's got my respect as a creative individual, and I'm interested in seeing what more that mind of his can churn out.

What is known about Banshee

I rarely say I am good doing something, but I know I am a good writer and I would love write a story about the guild's history (although one would have to correct my english forom time to time since I live in The Netherlands and we speak Dutch over here. I could write it in Dutch, but I think few would know what the story is about).

What I need is:
-where does Banshee stand for? What do they strive? How was the guild founded and why was it called the Blades of the Banshee?
-how long ago was the old guild destroyed and how?
-what were their enemies?
-in what world did they live (or can I use the Forgotten Realms campaign setting? I have the 3rd edition book right here)?
-what were know Banshee heroes, leaders quests and adventures?
-anything else important you can come up with....

I will make a hack of a story.

We already have a background - you can check it one of the sticky threads in this forum.
There you would find most of the answers you seek.

It is just a start

I have come up with a little start for a story for the Lore of the Guild, please read it and jugde it....

He would always remember those words, those last words: “Revive the Blades of the Banshee, my son.” While Grondo was handed an old, threadbare journal by his father those exact words accompanied the transfer.
To Grondo the journal was nothing more then a compilation of incomprehensible and meaningless notes. City names, names of probably long forgotten heroes including Pennor and Sarkis, names of various castles and ruins, were all written down in his father’s nearly illegible handwriting. Now it was up to Grondo to figure out what the purpose was of writing down all these things. And may be a more important question that would have to be answered: What exactly is The Blades of the Banshee and who are sons and daughters of the Blades of the Banshee?
Grondo could only be sure of his own connection with the Blades. He was told by his father that their ancestors were apprenti of the Blades. After that his father showed Grondo a tattoo on his right shoulder. Grondo was also told not to blaze abroad about his heritage. “People and demons will be watching you soon enough” was his warning.

Two years have passed since that remarkable day of his father’s death. At this time Grondo had decided to go in western direction, straight into the territory The Blades of the Banshee once fled from: the land of Zamollia. He was determined to see the ruins of the Academy of the Blade. This name was repeatedly mentioned in his father’s journal and Grondo was full of faith to find something there, not knowing the ruins could hardly called The Ruins of the Academy. During the attack of the demonic strike forces the Academy was destroyed and not a single stone was left atop another.

Grondo should reach the city of Firkhaag* in about 2 days, when he was going to sleep in The Eastern Forest*. He had been venturing the forest for the past three days. While unpacking his gear and setting up his camp he looked at the sky. He was about to recover his attention to the camp-building when a bright red dot disrupted the peaceful view. The dot came closer and closer to Grondo. It approached him in an aggressive way, but somehow Grondo never had the feeling he was in immediate physical danger. It seemed more like a seeking eye or a sign of warning. After a few seconds which seemed to last for hours to Grondo the dot disappeared as quickly and swiftly as it came, leaving Grondo stunned.

Grondo had a hard time getting a sleep that night. He was trying not to think about the events that had just occurred, but the harder he was trying not to, the more his mind was focused on it. He thought: “When I can’t get asleep I might as well take another look in the journal”.
There was one note in the journal that engaged his attention over and over again. It was a name of one of the apprenti and his or his children’s possible whereabouts. The note said:

Name: Tirk
Close friend of Pennor’s. When the battle started no one has seen him on the battlefield. No one has seen him afterwards. He is said to be send out of Zamollia by Pennor before the battle began, to protect him.
Possible whereabouts: Firkhaag, Candum
Other: He was fond of reading, just as his parents were. Might be possible that he or his children or grandchildren have a library or trade in books. He is said to know all of the old Blades of the Banshee’s secrets. Every demon on Argyle is looking for him.

Please tell me what you think of it. Should I continue? BTW The *-marked names have to be altered. I don't know the right names as they are used on Argyle

I think its pretty good. However you might find this useful if you haven't seen it already.

Argyles lore page. :)

I have read the bio of the Blades of the Banshhe on this site. I have read most of the Argyle lore page. But still there are some things I cannot figure out. They are all map-problems.
Where is Zamollia in the great map (map on site of Silver Oak studios)? Are there any detailed maps? Where is that Eastern Passage our bio is refering to?

I really don't know...

Anyways, Zamollia was destroyed. It no longer exists. I suppose all the kingdoms fell with the Empire, and now there are just city-states, such as Arberdan and Soberdan.

I intentionally left the location vague. I cannot dictate where anything is in Argyle. I intended for it to be on the southern land mass, a little to the west of the land bridge. Where the folks at Argyle will put it is still a mystery. :)

The intention of my soty is to find a key figure to revive the Blades of the Banshhe. Grondo is to find Tirk so The Blades of the Banshee will continue it's existence.
Hop this idea is ok with you guys. If not please tell me, so I can create just a nice story about the Blades (some things will have to change in the story but that's ok).

By the way, please criticise the story (parts of it. I know I have just began to write, but it it's better to know it from the beginning) and my english

Well mainly - the Blades of the Banshee dosen't exsit (and will not) in Argyle untill our characters create it, so maybe it is a wrong way to go.

What I was thinking of with lore was something that happen in the old banshee, and possible peoples escape from demons etc.

OK, I will change the story slightly. Thanks Xandax!
