Is this good?

I'm thinking of getting this game. Is it good? I know that it was considered brilliant when it was released, but already having played BG2 & TOB, will I be disappointed by it?

In short, how does it compare to BG2 & TOB?

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just remember that it's two different games depending upon whether you go for strength/stamina as a fighter, or intelligence as a mage.

Also, regardless of your path, it is more story and character development then the other Bioware games.

Seriously worth getting. I picked up a copy on sale and the only thing I regret about it is not buying it sooner. The whole story just rocks!

Torment is very story-oriented and an awesome game. Once I started playing, it was hard to quit.

If truth be told, I played Torment first before the BG series. Someone here even asked me why I call myself BG Fan!
The higher spells are actually movie treats and the story is really immersive.
It is a much shorter game than BG2, but the characters are more fleshed out. Which dialog options you choose will determine your alighment whereas in BG2, you get to choose it in the character building stage.
ToB is a linear expansion/finale to BG2; not much story to it if you don't count the continuing romances. Torment's storyline overall more than compensates for its brevity.
