Well, I started a Blade, and in my previous games I beat the game around L15 already... so I want to try out a 4 person party
any suggestions on what NPC's to pick?

I go with Fable's choice in an evil party.
Make the PC a thief (any class) and you have a well balanced party.
If you are playing good party, my highly subjective party would be:
1. Minsc
2. Mazzy
3. Aerie
4. PC can be a good thief (any class)
If User was here, SORC RULES! (Forget about detect/remove/set traps, backstab and UAI!)

I guess I'll go with something like
Blade
Korgan
Aerie
Jan/Imoen
I always hated Aerie, but I guess shes not that bad after all,
and I might swap Korgan for Keldorn

Blade
Jan
Cernd
Viconia
Could be a nice challenge.

I would swap Korgan for Keldorn, cause if i'm not mistaken Korgan & Aery don't go in the same team

Dazzo,
you can search for previous Aerie threads but I find her to be the most useful NPC in the game. With a nice combo of healing, defensive, and offensive spells she carries such an arsenal you can always find a useful spell here or there. Plus, being a cleric/mage she is open to a wide variety of items. Use scrolls also, you'll typically find many that are above her current level of casting. Stacking aerie out early with a lot of nice equipment will really help her out in the early goings. Wands are her greatest firend early on. Later in the game, she becomes a wrecking ball. I've tested her toe to toe with some of the best fighters in the game and she smokes 'em. Granted she needs a lot of buffs but it was fun to watch aerie bludgeon korgan to death.
If you continue on to throne of bhaal, she becomes amazing. but that's another disucssion.
Stilgar is correct. you will have to replace korgan if you keep aerie. stick with Jan over imoen. You have two multi's but in a party of four advancement should come swift enough.

Bruce Lee has a nice alternative there! Would probably be my choise as well. If you want a smoother ride though, go for:
Blade
Jaheria
Sir Anomen
Jan

I'm with Ned if you have a good party and want to continue onto ToB. Aerie really blooms in that game, what with the ability to use clercal spells in contigencies. She becomes potentially the best spellcasting party NPC in the game, Edwin's extra spells notwithstanding.

Ned, as always shows his prevailing wisdom. Since you only have 4 chars in your party, Multiclasses will level up quickly and be pretty strong.
Jan,
Jaheria
and Valygar would be neat.
It will allow you to use every item in the game I think.

Bruce lee reminded me of the hardest game I played.
PC Jester,
Cernd,
Valygar
Jaheria.
It was sketchy cuz my pc was kinda worthless....

Well, I went with this party:
Me, Blade, now L16 in Asylum
Jan L11-ish Illusionist and Rogue around 11 too
Korgan - L13-ish
Aerie - L10/11-ish Cleric/Mage
BUT NOW!
That stupid Imoen is free, and I dont know what to do..
1: Keep Jan, his thieving is nice, and is funny as hell, leave Imoen.
2: Add Imoen and go with a 5 player party
3: Drop Jan, and take Imoen instead
I never played a game without Jan, since he's my favorite NPC, but somewhere theres still a tiny roleplaying voice in the bac k of my head saying that leaving Imoen isnt right..
Well, I am an unreliable Chaotic Neutral Half Elven Blade.. but still.. its.. IMOEN!
What should I do?
Thanx in advance

I had anticipated this problem at the beginning of the thread, and assumed you were just gonna dump Jan after Spellhold. Didn't know you couldn't do without him...
That's the whole purpose of going to Spellhold in the first place, to save Immy, isn't it? I have killed her in one of my experiments, but that's another story!
If you were to stick to RpĂng, drop Jan. If you can bend a little on the four party, take both and let it be 5. The extra pair of hands will come in handy in ToB, unless you decide to solo.

I wont recommand taking imoen in as well.
then you'll have 2thiefs
and 3,5 mage (bard can cast spells to)
and cause both jan and aery both are multiclass, you would have a 7member party.
If you have ToB i recommand keeping jan for his thiefing special abilaty, if you only have SoA drop Jan and take imoen.

I'm glad I already did the major quests with my 4 player party,
(Firkraag, Kangaxx, Umar Hills, Bard Stronghold, Planar Sphere, stuff like that)
So I sucked up alot of xp, and now i guess ill continue with my 5 player party.. thanx for the advice

ok, herre is the expected take aerie rant from user....
2 methods of getting her into uber class...keep her behind everybody, and have her gather xp, set "korganaeriegrump" to zero if you get a korgan mean to aerie dialog, and give her sling of everard with bullets, trust me, you like...
think triple chain contingency earthquakes, one stop dragon killer, and
holy might, righteous magic, tensors trandform, all via triggers and sequences trun her if necessary into a 4 round uber killer.

Hey, she has 17 Int!!!
Anyway, after a lot of playing I discovered two things:
1)I *cannot* solo a game: when I reach Immie, I simply cannot
leave her in that cold dungeon...
2)Party of 5 are the best, IMHO. They go fast in levelling up, but not too
much. Especially if you have ToB, you can do a well balanced party, with a nice set of abilities.
Really, the xps are not a problem with 5 chars.

Transform in the slayer dazzo and take immie's immortal essence for your own. The game requires imagination also. Role play up a reason to leave imoen and record it in your journal

Might I gratuitously suggest taking Kelsey as one of your four? If you relegated him to be your ONLY mage it would be an interesting tactical challenge (given a sorcerer's limited spell slate), or you could pair him with Jan or a PC F/M or M/T or F/M/T to provide the range of spells that nicely complement a sorcerer's ability.
