I've been playing the Baldur's Gate series for a while and I'm starting to get bored with it. I've recently heard of Icewind Dale(I know there making a second, but I would like to play the IWD1 first)

I'm thinking about buying IWD+HoW, is this game worth it?

I also have some questions

1. Any new classes(Outside of Fighter. Ranger. Paladin, Thief, Bard, Druid, Cleric, Mage, Specialist Mage)?

2. Can you still Dual-Class/Multi-Class in this game?

3. Any new races(Besides Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Halfling, Dwarf, Gnome)?

4. Any new ablilities?

5. Is there a lot of dungeon crawling in this game(I like dungeon crawling)?

6. Is this game based on 2nd edition or 3rd edition rules?

(1) No, the classes are the same with BG.

(2) Yes

(3)No, the same.

(4) There are some special abilities avaliable with HoW(taken from 3e).

(5) Yes game is mostly Hack and slash with no npc-interaction and many dungeons, but it has a very nice storyline

(6)2nd edition

Keep in mind that the game has no NPCs. You will create the party yourself.

To answer your questions, I enjoyed IWD a lot. Its different from BG and Bg2 since you make all your characters, there aren't any npcs to add. Its very linear and not much npc interaction.
1. Same classes as the BG series, without the kits
2.Yes you can dual/multi class
3. the races are the same as BG2
4. Different spells and abilities, bards have different songs and druids have some innate powers that are different. There's also a lot of different items in the game, that aren't found in the BG series.
5. The game is a giant dungeon crawl :D (some good battles too, they play differently depending on your party composition)
6. Strictly 2 ed. rules.

If you do get IWD, get HoW, too. It contains bug-fixes, new abilities for the different classes (bards and druids now rock), items which make your life easier, as well as new areas, etc.

It also lets you play in higher resolutions like 1024x768 which adds to the beauty of the overall experience :)
