Bored...need challenge or change

Just thought I'd call on the combined wisdom of this forum for some advice. I've only beaten the game once, but I already find that I am bored with it. I've started a couple different games, some solo, some with different party configurations, but nothing seems to help...maybe I just need to step away for a while...is there any way to make it fresh and exciting again? I find that no matter what kind of character I play, I end up "playing" the game the same way, as myself. Thus, my first character, who I played like I would have, was the most natural and fun. When I try to "play like I someone else", I lose interest quickly.
BTW I just saw Galaxy Quest tonight...Funny movie!

Start a multiplayer game and CLUA Console yourself to an area with wide open spaces. A dragon lair possibly?
Mess around with Shadow Keeper on your characters and summon in a variety of monsters and just have fun blasting away.
That tends to keep me occupied for a while I guess

This is perhaps part of my problem, I don't know how to start a multiplayer game or do the CLUAconsole thing. As for multiplayer, I go through all the steps, but my computer won't seem to dial. I've checked the configurations, and I've been able to play other RPG's online (Diablo II). I'm stuck. Also, about CLUAconsole, how do I do this?

The CLUA Console command is a tad tricky as it involves you altering the BG2.ini file. It would be best to let someone like Sabre go through it with you, as I haven't done it in a long time.
As for multiplayer, you can play a muiltplayer game by yourself. ie you make all six characters, thats if you want six.

You may need to go into the configure screen prior to loading up a game. And in the Gameplay tab, increase the Cache size to over 300.
I've never played BG2 with other people, but when trying to mess around with a multiplayer game. I just keep messing with the various connection options, until it lets me play with my characters.
Oh, you may want to check out the sticky at the top. One of them is full of options and mods. Tends to make things interesting.

Thanks, I was able to start a multiplayer game, I think that being able to customize my whole party will make gameplay a lot more interesting...

The npc's are great but you get bored with them. I find it more interesting now to play around with different party configurations creating my own characters.
For a fun time start a multiplayer game and play with six mages, for extra fun, six wild-mages!!
Oh and if you haven't got ToB, get it!

If you still want to know about CLUA.
To activate it, first go to the folder where you installed BG2, look for a file called baldur.ini. Open it with NotePad, click at the end of the line with [Program Options] and press Enter to create a new line. Type in Debug Mode=1, save and close the file.
CLUA allows you to summon items that you might want to try, create creatures for your party to fight, etc. If you want to do something specific, just post, someone will be able to help you with it.
