What is the theoretical maximum for the subject posted above? One character, one round of combat.

Assuming all planets are in alignment, criticals happen, etc?

I'm assuming it's for a Fighter, advanced haste, weilding Crom Fryr (sp?), hits all 8? attacks for max damage? I don't know the weapons well enough to say what this total would be, in the range of 50 dam. x8 = 400? Is this nuts?

Or is it for an assasin, ad. hasted, backstabbing with some gnarly weapon? Can you backstab twice with ad. haste?

I don't think it's a mage using that wilting spell.

I am assuming here no "cheats" and with experience cap on. I don't count insta-death as damage, it's ista-death (finger of, etc.)

I mean, could you take out Jon in one round, theoretically?

There have been threads claiming 1000+ damage by using "sun-ray" spell on vampires.

There are also reports of backstabs achieving very large scores, but I can't remember how high.

My guess is a high-level assassin (improved hasted) backstabbing with Celes. Fury and holding Crom Fayr in the off hand.

Depends...I had a Kensai/Thief with Celestial Fury backed up by a choir of Skalds.

Without the Skalds, I did 274 damage with a single backstab. This was without Crom Faeyr, but I used Draw Upon Holy Might special ability to boost Str from the 21 with the belt to 25. With the Skalds the damage went up to around 300 so they must add the bonus after the multiplier. You can only ever get a single backstab without re-hiding.

With the Skalds, each normal attack was doing around 75 damage. A pure kensai with Kai, Imp Haste and the 5 Skalds ought to do around 80/hit * 8 = 640/round. Of course, it will be difficult to get all 8 attacks in since you'll lose some in switching targets and I don't know of any enemies with that many hp.
