The wizard's name is Winski Perorate, and he shows up to kill you when you have done something to break the plot. In the Ducal Palace, this happens when:
  • You injure Belt
  • You injure Liia
  • Both Belt and Liia are dead
Watch damaging area-effect spells here. It's better to summon a bunch of monsters to keep the doppelgangers busy, and use Dispel Magic to get rid of their Haste spell.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

wow!

well i have done that (in that battle) that i make my mage cast one of those nifty little bubbels around the woman (Liia) She cant hurt anybosy, but nobody (not even Sarevok) can hurt her. and i think that is the best way to ensure that she survives. I have allso tried without the bubble, and she died rather quickly, and the game didn't summon any wierd mages for that reason! (the male duke survived).
The other ting i do, as said previously in this thread, is monster summoning to keep the "minor" enemys bizzy. :)

Otiluke's resilient sphere? Interesting idea, if you have TotSC. The problem with that spell is that it allows a saving throw. I've only used it in BG2 and people are always saving there.

It works more often in BG1. When playing with a party, I've had my mage cast it on Belt and Liia. I've also used it on the Dwarven Doom Guards in Durlag's Tower to prevent all of them from rushing my party when taking Kiel's buckler.

Well. i have played BG before, and this time is the first time i have played it WITH ToSc. and i didn't notice any difference in the saving throws. (and yes it's Otiluke's resilient sphere i ment, just coulden't remember the name)
