Don't get me wrong, this is a good site, but there are section that are not very clear in spots. So I'm looking for a walkthrough that might clear things up a bit. I've tried Gamefaqs.com but the walkthroughs are even more vauge. Thanx. :)

Not to flame you bud, but what kind of idiot are you? The guides here are as clear as possible and the best I have ever found. So unless you expect them to walk through by the hand, this is the best it gets. Or you can fork out $40 and get the walkthru guide with colour maps etc...

don't answer unless you are helpful

i have a few unfinished quests in my journal that the guide on this site doesn't say how to finish one is the buying of swords for the kids in umar hills. i bought the swords but the quest isn't finished. Second is Valygar, i've used him finished the Sphere but that quest is still not finished. and the riddle of the sewers, i have the ring and the guy says it doesn't belong in the first or the third pipe. i've completed it but the quest is still sitting in the unfinished section. that's what i mean by being unclear. i know people are going to tell me how to finish them but i'm sure i've done it already.

Play nice please :)
@gambit, you didn't find DSimpsons walkthrough on that site helpful? Its one of the most comprehensive out there.

@Obsidian, there are ways of expressing one's amazement at other people's actions without calling them an idiot. Please try a few.

@Gambit, I can't believe you wrote that about GameFAQ's walkthroughs. Dan Simpson is rightly referred to as the "King of Walkthroughs," and his FAQ on BG2 is celebrated. Vague? No offense, but I have trouble believing you actually opened the file and looked within. :(

ok ok

you are right simpons walkthru is not bad. i just didn't look at it carefully enough. i'm looking at it now and from what i see it seems to be more helpful than the others. i never said this site was bad just confusing as to where to go next. from what i saw i never found out from here that i had to go back to umar hills to get trademeet on the map (that i found accidentally myself). what i like about a FAQ is that as i finish an area i like to delete that section so i know what i have done and haven't and simpsons seem to have that ability. so it's my bad that i didn't look at simpsons faq.

If I may make a suggestion...?

Try playing the game without any knowledge of what's to come. If you're just playing to follow through a FAQ by the letter, it's like painting by numbers. When you've finished, you haven't truly "won" the game--the FAQ has. When you play it through and use the FAQ (or this board) only to help out in the last extremity, it's you who have achieved victory.

Just my POV, like I said.

now i had this conversation with a friend of mine. everybody enjoys the game in their own way. some cheat like crazy and still get enjoyment out of it, some use a walkthrough as a hand holder and still enjoy it, some use both and still enjoy it, some don't use either and enjoy it, some use a walkthrough only if they are stuck and still enjoy the game. me, i'm the last, i use a walkthrough for help. there are parts that banshee mentions but doesn't exactly tell how to get there or it say's how to get there but it's a little confusing. so i'm not bashing anyone i'm just pointing out a fact and that's all.

I agree with Gambit, everyone enjoys fun his own way. BG is not a game like CS, where cheating spoilts other players' fun. Most of the time you play BG by yourself, single player games.

There are 3 kinds of cheaters

1) "Simple cheesers" This is due to having played the game before, wanting to save time, etc. There are a lot of "walking" quests in BG I and II which require you to cross egypt to pick up a book. Its easier to just anticipate these things and accomplish the quest before you even get it.

We all do little things which arent "roleplaying" for the sheer sake of time.

Also falling under this catagory are doing things like not taking Yoshimo as a NPC for obvious reasons or Imoen, even though your intended too. Spending 2 months getting ready to go to spellhold even though youre supposedly trying to hurry. Just minor stuff that people do AFTER theyve accomplished most everything there is to accomplish.

Basically anything that can be done in the game without exploiting bugs, usually with the idea of "doing something different" or avoiding doing something the 1923109932 time.

2) "I suck to bad to play the right way" This is for people to dumb to figure out the simple riddles, to impatient to walk around a little and figure out where they are supposed to go, and people who refuse to play enough the right way to solve how to beat some of the tougher battles without cheating. Things that fall into this are anything that is done to make the game easier without regard to trying to do it the right way first (and at least once).

Oh I died so instead of trying different tactics lets give myself all this stuff and experince....

Oh I got one riddle wrong lets get the answers....

I dont like these people =/

3) "Mad Scientist" These are the people who honestly get a kick out of fiddling with and manipulating the game engine, making little Frankenstien creations. Theyve all already beaten the game before, probably legit, and feel its lost its replay value after that of just playing it straight. So now they toy with the guts of the game making new and....well intresting at least...discoveries.

I do like these people

Anyways, whatever you want, thats fine. But here are some basic facts.

The game is MEANT to be played in a certain way. This way isnt restrictive. You have dozens of options. I dont mean a certain path. But there is a "right way" to play.

The said, that is the way which gives the most enjoyment, youre first time around at least. If you cheat you ruin the flow of the story, and the story is what makes the game the first time you play.

Yes you can have fun cheating still, but it wont be as good as if you played the game correctly. If you dont enjoy playing the game correctly, im sorry to say, you just wasted your money.

So, you know, your money, your game. But that doesnt make it right.

Yes I agree, cheat to have fun, not cheat yourself of the fun.

oh...really decadurabolin. be truthful here. how many times have you been stuck in a game and didn't know where to go even after you tried everything that you could think of, went everywhere you could think of? of course when you do look at the walkthru it usually ends up being such a simple thing that you end up hitting yourself in the head for it. or it could very well end up being a glitch in the game and every walk through says to do something and you do it but something is missing and preventing you from doin it. there have been a few times where i ran into that glitch and had to restart my game. So even though you might not want to look at walkthroughs, there are times you may have to to make sure it's not the game and it's just you not seeing the answer. :)

That is right, that is when walkthroughs, CLUAs and SKs come in handly, many glitches in the game require yourself to fix with CLUAs and SKs.

Also, do I have to keep rolling for 3 hours to get the attributes that satisfy me? Not that I am creating a super character, but I just want a certain total points of attributes.
