Problem with Keldorn

I've just been through the Planar Sphere, and during the fight to get a demon heart one of the Maurezhi cast Hold Person on Keldorn and it worked! Being an Inquisitor he's supposed to be immune to all hold and charm spells.

My current installation is as follows in order:
Shadows of Amn
Bonus merchants
Throne of Bhaal
Official patch 26498
Baldurdash bugfixes 1.12
Improved ToB enemies
Ascension 1.41
Kelsey

Is there a patch I've missed or one available to correct this problem?

Thanks.

is not hold, its death gaze, which has a hold like effect....

i think it does put the icon in place, but think it counts per game negine as innate...

this is similar to being dominated by mind flayers even while invisible, mislead, you cant be targetted, but area effect domination, the psionic version will work sometimes, but chaotic commands fixes that.

even so, his armour is supposed to grant him free action. i'm pretty sure i've got him power word: stunned by a mage, while the spell was negated by a char with the ring of free action. i think his plate's immunity is just not complete.

Was he actually held, or did he just have the "hold" animation? If he was actually held, what mods do you have installed? Do you have ToB?

Yep, he was definitely held. The spell was actually cast at Anomen, but Keldorn was close enough to be caught in the area effect of the spell. I've posted all the mods and patches currently installed, and the entire game installation was only 2 hours old (had some strange dialog problems earlier). Mirk has also pointed out another problem I didn't notice - why didn't the free action effect of Keldorn's armour prevent it too.

Erm... a gauth just managed to get Keldorn "held" with the icon, the animation and the actual effect. What's going on?

@Mr Flibble and Aranan:

Have either of you been using any of TeamBG's utilities?

@Aranan: Do you have ToB installed?

Look in your override directory for a file called CLABPA03.2DA and zip it up. Zip up your savegame as well and send both to me, and I'll have a look at them. I'll pm you my e-mail address.

No TOB, and I can't even access teambg's webpage, let alone download any of their utilities :)

Keldorn's armour does not provide protection from Stun effects, while the Ring of Free Action does - whether or not this was intentional, I have no idea. What I did find about his armour was that all of the protections have been set as "Dispellable & Bypass Resistance", when they should have been set as "Not Dispellable & Bypass Resistance".

It is possible that the protection of the armour were dispelled and somehow cancelled out the innate resistance of the Inquisitor kit - I'm guessing here, since I have not been able to reproduce the problem. I gave my character the Hold Person spell that the Maurezhi have and kept on casting it at Keldorn, the spell hits but nothing else happened. I tried the spells on a few Kobolds, and it works everytime.

Can you look for the file SPCL233B.SPL in the Override folder, zip it and send it to me if you find it? Email KE_Sabre@hotmail.com

I've included the fixed armour for Keldorn, not really sure if this is the cause of the problem though. Unzip and put in Override folder.

@Sojourner - again, thanks for your assisitance. I've managed to track the problem down to several of the lower level versions of Keldorn not being set to use the inquisitor kit and thus not having any immunities.

@Sabre - found that file in the override folder, and it's on it's way.

Erm.. I don't have SPCL233B.SPL ... I looked in the overwrite folder and then searched my computer using find for it, but it still didn't turn up. (This isn't a TOB file is it? I don't have TOB)

EDIT: I'm in the Unseeing Eye quest right now, and so far the blind priests and the beholders can hold Keldorn.

@Aranan - Could you send me your savegame as well? My e-mail is:

maria@hlmcpherson.com

Don't worry about SPCL233B.SPL not being in your override directory - generally fixes and last-minute changes get put there. ;) This particular file is what's applied to an inquisitor to give him his immunities.

Heh, sorry about the confusion. Two different people asking for two different files.. confused poor little me.

@Sojourner - The savegame and the file should be in your inbox any moment now.

This would explain the problem, I looked through his files again and found the problem in the KELDOR8.CRE file - fixed version included. Did you find any other files with the problem?

So if Keldorn joined you party when he was at level 8, he would not get the immunities. The only way to fix this would be to create an Inquisitor, and then - using Shadow Keeper - copy the things in the Affects section of the Inquisitor you made into Keldorn's Affects section, in your savegame.

Aranan: Sorry about that; I assumed that you've already sent the other file to Sojourner, and since there was no reply posted that there were any problem with that file; so I asked for the other file to see if there are any problem with that one instead.

@Sabre. Thanks. I've checked all other versions of Keldorn and they seem to be alright.

You're welcome.

Here's another way of getting the Immunities back for Keldorn. Unzip this file into the Override folder and then use, CLUAConsole:CreateItem("SCRLINSQ"), a scroll will appear in your Inventory. Give this to Keldorn and have him use it - equip to Quick Item Slot, and click on it from the Game screen. After the scroll disappear Keldorn will have his immunities back.

@Aranan - could you look in your override folder and see if SPCL233.SPL (without the 'B') exists? If so, could you zip it up and e-mail it to me?

@ Saber-
So far I've sent everything to Sojourner.. Saber, do you still want any of my files?

@ Sojourner-
... Still don't have that file.
