Okay, I must be missing something here. Whenever I battle a mage they always contigency with a Spell Trap & Protection from Magical Weapons. I always keep some non-magical weapons on my fighters (two-handed swords) to clobber the mage with when they do this. It seems that even my normal weapons are ineffective when I hit the mage with them.

According the the spell description, you can't have both Protection from Normal Weapons & Prot. from Magical on at the same time, so I would think that my normal weapons would do damage.

Anyone else having this problem...or found a way around it?

They probably have stoneskin cast on them. The spell "breach" should take care of their defences so that you can hit them.
