The material posession of an indicator

Today was a decent day, i got off work early, i was off to check my money at a local ATM in hopes of affording some new speakers for my car, low and behold i take the back road in a vague effort to save some time and money in the process...now of course (being that life is as it is) i have to pay out for a new indicator for my said car....why? Well in the process of driving down said road i came up behind a man of doddery years who decided to pull over for me....or so i thought. As i was passing (with no indicator from him) he pulled out right in front of me. I take at least partial responsibility for this act, and i am now left with a possible bill from them and a bill for a new indicator and a new wing.
The morale of this story, don't assume someone is being kind on the road, always assume they are going to pull out. I am just thankful that i was driving at a slow rate.
So, has anyone else got any related stories.

I learned that lesson waaaaaaaaay before I started driving... luckely
I hit a scooter once, and she was wrong.
So we fill in a damage paper and all that night at her place. All seems to be fine. Nope! Later that month, still no €€€.
So we call our insurance, and they tell us they won't pay!
WTF!!
"We feel it's YOUR foult" and it obviously isn't!!
Still no €€€. So we send pictures to the insurance company and let them fight it out.
Stupid (&^%$5?<{!
Next time I'll back up over her little scooter till there is nothing left but scrap metal. (not really, (j/K)

As I tell my wife when we are traveling, "Don't worry about my style of driving, worry about the other people coming at us"
Out of all the years I've been driving, I have only had one wreck involving another person. Most of my wrecks involve me and some object.
(Clay bank, Mailbox, My mothers house, don't ask
, a light pole, two deer and a pig)

That is the annoying thing; it was another person. I have slid off the road once before and took out someones hedge, it was actually a funny story, i ended up reversing out, which ripped off my bumper. I pick up the bumper and sling it in the back of my car (hatch back
) then i drive off down the road only the light is smashed in so it looks like the Batman insignia
I was expecting Batman to appear from nowhere to save my car

Actually i got back into my car after exchanging details and started to scheme instantly how i could blag this one away to my friends and family....i actually said to myself, there is no way you can blag it, just accept your fate
I believe it is safer watching and then reacting to the other drivers, some have no idea what they are or want to do.
This was the problem, he moved over like he was letting me by, and with no indication or anything he pulled right across me

Been there, done that. I was 17 and ran a small Mitsubishi into the side of a very new Holden Commodore. Made a big mess of my car, don't think I even scratched the other guys paintwork. Fortunately for me that one was his fault. He'd pulled over to the side of the road and stopped, and without indicating he did a u-turn right in front of me.
Since then I simply assume all other drivers are idiots. Most aren't, but it's not worth the risk assuming they are aware of their surroundings.

That is a good plan, why would i presume any person has any sense i don't know

I was driving around on a survey a few years ago along some old dirt roads that were overgrown with mesquite. So I'm bashing through the mesquite, (since I always try to avoid walking any further than I have to while on survey), and I come to a dry wash with a cutbank about a meter high. I figure I probably can't drive down it, so I put the truck in reverse. The mesquite are surprisingly strong, and rip the side-rear-view mirrors right off! (The mirrors are designed to fold back in case you need to do something like that - I forgot to fold them first!) But no matter - it was a rented company car!

I was having a late night harnmaster (very cool RPG)session with a few freinds at a mates place. Said mate lived on a relitively major road where you could park your car outside of peak traffic hours. One of the guys parked his white Ford Falcon (big car) under a street light directly opposite - you could see it the from the lounge room. A girl of about 20 or so was comming home from a party and drove straight into the rear of it, writing both cars off. We rushed out, as you do, to see if anyone was hurt. Fortunately she was ok. We took her inside, gave her some water and called the police. When they got there, she tried to claim that a). she did not see the car (remember - white car parked under street light) and b). that he should not have parked there as it was a major road - despite the fact that there are parking spaces marked along the road for about a mile and a half.
When we finaly got rid of her, we just got on with the game (including the guy whose car it was).

She honestly thought anyone would buy that? From your story you were very concientous and deserved better from her. I imagine the bill wasn't pretty
Just out of interest, was she?
@Gwally, My cousin was reversing the other day at a crazy rate (as he always does) and the hedge took the wing mirror clean off and he preceded to drive into it scratching his car in the process. Next day after picking the mirror up from the road he used 2 penny's drilled a hole in them to use as washers, and voila no problem

She honestly thought anyone would buy that? From your story you were very concientous and deserved better from her. I imagine the bill wasn't pretty Just out of interest, was she?
Yeah, she was a bit of a honey. And my friends were all gamer geeks. (Not me obviously). I am sure that she thought she was in hell!!
- To be fair to my gamming friends, the guy whose car it was decided to run home that night (about 10 miles), another one moved to the UK for a bit to have a trial with a 3rd division football club and our GM had a penchant for $1,000 suits (while still a student). So we did not look like your stereotypical gammer group. Acted - Yes, looked - No.

IIRC this is a collectors car nowadays, very rare to find one in good shape as well. After this I would say even more rare. Built like a tank and drove like one as well, but IMHO it was better looking than the Mustang.

In NZ or Australia, every third car is a Ford Falcon!
