Esteem member of SYM, we have already celebrated our 2nd Annual SYM Award Show some time ago. But as organiser, I do notice several things which will confuse the new SYMer. Some Award like Best Avatar, Best Signature, Best Location - was altered by the member who achieved it. It's their prerogative since there are no rules which bound them to use it for a period of time before the next SYM Award Show.

I'm opening this thread so we- the SYM can have a solid rules for the next award show. Pls post you thoughts and suggestion. SPAM if you like but due the prestige of the Award Show, pls don't make this thread a SPAM fest

possibly a thread to keep copies of the winning (or even nominated?) avatars and quote the winning signatures would be useful

Nominations for best avatar - mine, of course.

For best signature and best location, you gotta lay out some criteria. Best in what way? Originality? Humor? Shock value? Revelation/reinforcment of personality? Please clarify.

I'd say best identifying mark.
Example: (Until lately, at least ) the Avatars of Weasel, Eminem, Keyless, KID01 etc.

OR-Keyless' green writing, (Until lately) Weasel's Orange writing

OR Sigs- My 'Veni..' (Screw humility! ), Sleepy's 'I've just locked...'

I think the sig should definately be judged on how well it represents the person. Avatar, how well it displays their persona, and location, pure humour value.

I reckon we just reopen the competition when it changes, that way we potentially have an ongoing award show until the next one. Keep it current, as it were.
EDIT-Or maybe I'm just trying to annoy Kayless .

Suggestions for the next SYM Award Show

Well, better seating arrangements for a start as having to spend a whole night sitting next to Gruntys Marines does make you question your own sanity after a while.

However I don't think anything else should be changed.

Actually I have somethings on my mind, like these questions :
1. Must a winner keep his/her Avatar/ Location/signature for a period of time ?
2. If no then perhaps we should open a thread to "Immortalise" this stuff
3. Should the thread become a sticky, so new members can see Our achievements ?
4. If the winner should keep his/her Avatar/ Location/signature for a period of time, what's the appropreate sanction if he/she broke the rule ? Revote or give the Award to member who got the "second place" ?
5. How we gonna appoint our hots for the next show ?
6. I need help for organising the next Awards, any volunteer ?
7. Can the organisers also be voted for nominations ?
8. We need something for reminder like miniturised Oscar statue to give the winner - any thoughts ?
9. We need a fixed categories for next Award shows, what're those gonna be ?

No, no more stickies. We've got a fair few stickies already, we don't want a situation similar to that period where everyone was posting polls a while back.
Anyone should be able to be nominated, including the organisers.

I think a sticky'd be great, and you ould include little sections for whenever someone does something worth remembering...anyway, it's a bit early to decide now...but think about this: What's wrong with 'best'? The Oscars don't say, actingh performance which best expresses the directors personality, or **** about with specifics; they just say best, and leave it to everyone else to decide which is actualy best, and for whart reason...however, I am not opposed to quite specific awards, like Funniest Signature or something, but I think that doing away with plain old 'Best' is a bad idea.

PS what about doing the voting in two rounds, the first round for nominations and then the second round for winners? @Mods, is it possible to make a poll in which nobody is allowed to see the results?

anyway, I'll get working on some trophies with my immense graphical freestyling abilities...

Well, just remember to keep the mods who try to support to the little people in mind for the next one (You know, Fable, Myself, Grunty)

Aegis is a little embarassed, but he sent me a PM, asking me to post a link for everyone to pledge their support to the UK Mammals Trust. Some do - some are more predictable though I do change my sig sometimes!

I agree (on both account ).

I don't see the point for having avatars/sigs in the award. It might be interesting to keep some of them, as most of us changes every now and then, but not in the award. IMO, the posts/threads are more important than avatars/sigs in the SYM.
