Druid and Barb are my fave, but in BGII they get the shaft. So It's ranger all the way!!

sorcs...rule all, better than tiax...
no other class is pure power, and the extreme labor intensive spells pick thinking and research is not a liability, but the best part of the class...
yes, you can spend many an hour reading xyx spell guide, and my very humble posts about the spells in bg 2, and still not know everything about spells...a charming fellow named kurosian just taught me a major lesson today about a spell i thought was junk...
ruby ray of reversal is not bad at all....
but still, sorcerors are better than any other class for pure intellectual excersize...

I think Inquisitor is one of the most powerful class:
dispell magic at twice is level means you can dispell everything!!!
add true sight, immunities to charm and hold, bonus to saving throw and the use of Holy Avenger, with which you can reach 100%!!!! magic resistance with cloack of Balduran, ring of Gaax, amulet of power (or an other amulet that raise MR) and the bonus you get in hell, and you have an awsome character.

balduran's cloack isn't in BG2!

Balduran's Cloak is available from an NPC mod for BGII (Solaufein's - a nice challenge to actually getting it).
Um, I've never played a pure-class PC except for Ranger, and then it was only once. I guess I'm one of those must-have-varying-skills types...
or I like having more than one stronghold? ehehe

Balduran cloak is BGI item, and you can get it by importing your old PC and with a little trick to keep his items.

I know, but when you do that, why not imediatly use shadowkeeper to edit it in.
And why reload 1000 times to get the ring of gaxx pickpocketed, when theres good old shadowkeeper.
And why kill enemey´s when you can ctrl them to death and set you´re experience with SK.
What i´m trying to say is, that´s cheating, i like to play the game as it is.....

without creating custom kits, my fave is kensai/thief the backstabbing warrior so I voted for fighter.

Ok, my favourite class - the one I'm using at the moment - is Totemic Druid/Fighter, simply because after gaining some good xp, you get a high level fighting machine who's also got a nice repertoire of spells.
Not many people talk about Assassins, but that was a favourite evil character of mine - I remember my Assassin doing more damage than Minsc, because he kept dissapearing and backstabbing all through fights.

Sorry, but I don't think that importing your PC from BGI with his items is cheating:
first to do that you are not using strange code or other programs not foreseen by programmers etc., but you are at the most exploiting a bug;
second, if you import your items you will get different items (lesser) in the beginning of the game (no mail of the dead?) and if you have within your goods Dritz's weapons, when you meet him he will behave very differently, all that meaning that programmers had already planned the possibility of importing your old goods (although they didn't developed it well), so I will consider that at the most a cheese tactic.
third: I don't like cheating, and I don't even understand what you mean by saying "ctrl them to death". I do sometimes exploit some bugs: who doesn't, be sincere!! when in the same round with a PC you set a contingency (or two), cast a spell and shoot witha ranged weapon that's exploiting a bug: you shouldn't be able to do all that thing in the same time, but the game is not perfect and there are some gaps, but that's not cheating!!, at the most you can call it cheese?
Fourth: you complain people that steal the rings (you don't need to reload 1000 times), well a lot of rings are duplicated around the game (ring of invisibility, of air control, animal frienship, protection, witzardy (you actually make one if you are a mage), regeneration), so two ring of the Ram is not a scandal (the boss of Cowled Witz. should be able to make another one after you steal it, considering that you get the second after quite some time); I can agree with you that by a strictly role-playing point of view getting two ring of Gaxx is not right (?), but I would'nt consider that cheating, you are only not "role-playing".

Okok it's exploiting a bug, it'll make irenicus' dungeon a lot easyer.
I'm still not a huge fan of it, but while on the topic I have 2 questions.
Can the Defender hit Kangaxx?
And what dous drizzt say when you carry his equipment?

GnG, it actually takes me days to come up with good sorc spell tables, since i know spells, i am a stinking perfectionist...grrr...
actually, getting PERFECT spell tables, with optimum balace of cheese and universal use, and utility and sheer neatness is the part i love best about being sorc...
my current tables for bun bun is 7 spells per level, except lv 1 and 4, and took off and on a half year to perfect...
each spell has been carefully judged based on cheese, usefullness and ability to be used in non game designed fashion to exploit it fully, like using mass inv instead of imp inv, since it actually lasts longer and is usefull for summons buffs...
ok, i am nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......................................................................
but you guys knew that already....

Sorry User, I just dont find the game that difficult. I have some spell favorites that ive learned tons about through trial and error and I usually sprinkle in a few that I dont use often/never use just to see what happens. Never found a need for hours of dwelling on it =/
As for cheese. It is cheese, youre meant to be stripped basically naked, they dont intend for you to have your starting equipment, if they did then you would have it when you imported in.
Look this is basic logic, dont make yourself a fool by desperatly trying to rationalize it away. Youre taking advantage of a game oversight for youre own advantage that was unintended by the designers.
Drizzt acts different if you killed him in BG1. Whether you have his equipment or not is inconsquential.
I DO wish that some items which were in BG1 were in BG2. If not around the Irenicus dungeon then at least pawned off someplace that I can buy it back.

i dont find the game difficult, this is the part i love the best....giggle...ok, sure, i can use a set of generic spells, and do really well, i mean the nets are full of sorc guides, heck, i'posted several myself, but i like to spend time making perfect spell books...this is the part i like the best....
and seriously, do you think the guy who came up with area effect deathblow, (thanks bunch, commoner for the original discovery about deathblow and mindflayers!!) and the creator of bun bun finds this game hard???this is the part i enjoy, getting perfection done right...
its a IT thingie...
