Does area difficulty adjust to party level?

I am curious if the area difficulty adjusts to suit the level of the party?

Entering chapter III requires that you have 15K gold. I decided to do a lot of the side quests, and had close to 100K when I finally went on to chapter III. And, of course, I gained a bunch of levels along the way...

As I progressed on in the story, I wondered how I ever might have survived had I decided to make the jump at 15K. I would have been slaughtered in the crypts, for example - let alone the Asylum and Underdark.

So - are the opponents easier if you go against them at a lower level?

Yes, a good example is the useeing eye area. after you go down in the Pit many people sayed here that they fund lichs in there,I have not see a lich down there but I always make that area in Chapter II and in realive low level. The game adjusts to your level to still give you a chalange.

Even the Shade Lord quest adjusts, I usually do that as one of the first quests. I save d it for later in this game and ran into a couple of liches besides the regular beasties you find Image made the whole area difficult, especially since I was trying to save my undead killing spells for the shade lord

I did the unseeing eye quest after I got up from the underdark and I did find a lich down there.

I can also vouch for that. I got the crap scared out of me when I turned a corner in the Temple Ruins, and ran into two liches, two skeleton warriors and three mummies! Suffice it to say, I was unprepared at the time, so I was slaughtered.

"Ya ya, whatever. Geez, one letter off, so crucify me!"

Religious ones should get this, if you don't and want to, just ask.

Definitely...and then some. Iron golems are replaced with adamantite golems, maps end up being littered with extra creatures, liches start popping up where skeleton warriors once were, mummies turn into greater mummies (needs +3 weapon to hit), etc.

No matter when you decide to leave to chapter 4, the game is still playable. But yes, there is a MINIMUM difficulty for each map, so the crypt might be tough to clear out without the right tools or proper levels. Likewise, a demon is not going to be an imp just because you're only level 8.
