I'm stuck on a picket fence!

It all started when I was walking along looking for the ruin where I get the artifact thingies for the Thief Guild around Balmora... I know I was near the temple... but anyways... I was walking and this little slug thing came at me, I ran around for a little bit jumping... then I was stuck on the fence and it started attacking me... luckily I killed it easily... Now im stuck, I try to jump off and all it does is get me fatigued! Has this happened with anyone else? Any suggestions? Thx ^ ^

It has almost happened to me several times. Each time I have been able to get out by jumping, sneaking, and moving around wildly.

If you are truly stuck that sucks - hopefully you have a recent save - use that F5 key liberally ;)

hmm this could be a major problem... maybe more of a problem then some poeple may think... once people start making there own levels they might have alot of things like this guy here said about getting stuck in a fence.

it is how the graphics engine is layed out on this game, and how the terrain handles the player movements around objects allowing possible glitchs were players may get stuck. This is not good at all.

i dont think they could fix that because it would be already in the engine the game runs on itself.

a possible way to fix it would be to edit that rea were your in bring up the leveling tool for morrowind and make the fence thinner or smaller.

what area is it? i will have a look and see.

the developers and beta testers need to test these thing before releasing them... oveously they didnt check all areas of the world before releasing the game.

the devlopers said they didnt want any bugs in this game and already two bugs may have already been found in this. Not good at all.

I've had this happen too. I don't want to start saying "OH NOOOS!!! BUGZ!!!" because it is not a big deal, just quick save often in any game. Baldurs Gate 2 had a million bugs but we all still had fun.

It's too bad because I always have a habit of jumping around a lot, gets up that old acrobat skill too. It's funny when you get a character up to about 80 speed and 50 or 60 acrobatics how quick they can get around - I've just jumped right over monsters coming up stairs at me and took off, leaving them there with a perplexed look on their ugly mofo faces :)

I have gotten stuck so back that I had to restart the game, but usually it is not so bad. I wonder if these things can be fixed? They obviously should've had someone who likes to jump over every rope and off every ledge on the quality assurance deal.

2 places I can think of to check out:

In the very first village you start in, from the lighthouse you are tempted to jump down into a tree instead of taking the stairs. But I got stuck when I did it.

Another place is in the first real city you go to start w/ a "B", there are two guild buildings right next to each other. When you jump off the little second story platform you can get stuck on the little pole the sign hangs off of.

yes you are correct there jaker bugs are always and always will be in games. That is why I try to fix them ;)

i made an ACP (Anti cheat patch) for delta force 2 way back in 1999. I don't know if any of you have heard of that game but it is completly run by trainers and secondary programs that run in the backround while playing the game online. Its a first person shooter type... probably most of you dont like those i dont know ;)

anyways not saying everyone cheats on it becuase there are some really good players on that game, but some of them are very apperant like the hieght scale hack, and the walks through walls, unlimited ammo .ect .ect

so i decided to try and fix all this cheating going on for a temporary solution... it was released but 1 month later someone made another trainer for the newer patch that had come out for df, and then it was going on all over again.

i havint made much software... just some mods for games, and doing mostly leveling.. i quit trying to stop the trainers cuz i had so many more hackers working against me... it was next to impossible... and it's sad when these morons actually spend all that time just to cheat, and not play a fair game.

my father always taught me one thing in life... if you have the power to create on a computer, or cyber space... use the power to secure the weak and protect the innocent.

alot of those people have the intellect but some of them have no wisdom, or common sence to use there skills for the good. They just want to wreak peoples computers and games.

and what they get out of it?... im still trying to find out what that is from those type of hackers (blackhats)

persay in my veiw it is a world were i white hat i would be fighting the blackhat... an ongoing battle that will never be won.

hit the ~ key, then type either TCL or TLC can't remember. This will allow you to walk through walls. When you are unstuck just retype it and it will go back to normal.

I found you can get stuck just about anywhere. My advice: two points.

1. quick save often
2. carry scrolls of alsimvi intervention and/or divine intervention. I'm guessing levitation might get one out of a jam as well.

You could also just keep cranking on the keys 'wasd' while toggling jumping and running. Try switching to third player view as well. It helps. I've gotten unstuck a couple of times but most of the time its' not worth the hassle.

If you find the interventions are a hassle, I use mark and recall when I am forced to use a scroll. I've warped right back to the same spot and not been stuck.
