Staff of Thunder and Lightning?

After a successful challenge by Jaheira against the Shadow Druid in the Druid Grove, I can see and target a staff in the hands of the vanquished Druid. However I cannot descend into the challenge pit to retrieve it. Evidently some report that this is a Staff of Thunder & Lightning.
How can I get it (if at all?)

It's a bug, the only way is to either use CTRL + J to teleport into the pit (if you have CLUA active); or to use Shadow Keeper to get it.

Just remembered something, the staff should have been given to you by the guy you talk to after defeating Faldorn - so the staff in the pit would be a simple Quarterstaff which Faldorn used during the battle.

That is correct - I've checked it out myself once. Sometimes there are two ordinary staves in the pit, IIRC (one for each combatant).

The mage spell teleport field could be useful here, if you really want to get that staff that badly.

Got it!!
It was indeed given to me. It was hidden among the other stuff in my main character's inventory. Thanks (again)!

@Rattman, no need to flame anyone, here: we all make mistakes, newbies and veterans alike, in everything we do. It's called being human.
