uncooperative summoned fire elemental

Anyone see this happen:
I summon a fire elemental and his circle is blue. No attact, no option to attack, just a dialog icon (that of course does nothing.) When I summon one of these guys, I usually need help, not a spectator.

Usually any elemental (when it is summoned by a mage) has to go through a "contest of wills" with the mage who summoned it. The mage can't do any thing while this is happening (for three rounds I think) and there is a 15% chance that the elemental will turn hostile.

Its not Hold its mental Battle. Im assuming it takes concentration to summon and Elemental.

jahiera's (or any druid, i guess) fire elementals are way superior. she can summon them without a contest of wills and they are fantastic fighters.

This happened a lot when I summoned Earth elementals.. If they stay in close range with your party for some time (a bit longer than the mage's concentration thingy) they become friendly (circle turns green) I've never tried putting them close to my enemies, maybe they'd become hostile then.

Actually the range doesn't matter Chrissy but the presence of hostiles do. Well atleast it does so when I play. Image

Since the elemental always goes hostile if you break the consentration of the mage (instead of the 15% chance that's built into the spell) I got a sneaking suspicion that AIscripts will also disrupt the consentration of the mage if a hostile pops into view.

elementals by mage have a chance of turning

elementals by druids dun have a chance of turning, and their instant, so whoever's better is quite clear

sadly i dumped jaheira and cernd was simply, well, incompetant...

Everybody, it's part of mage elemental summoning spells' description that it takes 3 rounds for the mental battle to finish. During that time, the mage and elemental are "held." The fire elemental will have a blue circle until it finishes, whereupon most of the time he'll turn green, and some of the time (15%) he'll turn red. If the mage is hit, he will probably lose concentration, and the elemental will turn on him for sure.
