Memory advice?

Post by clacka »

I do not have the largest hard drive in the world. Do I really need everything in the

C:... \black isle\bgII - SoA\data directory? There are files in there that are close to 100MB

Can you advise me as to how to cut down on the amount of hard drive space SoA uses?

Thanks.

The only real recourse you have is to do a minimum install which uses the least amount of hard drive space and loads much of the other data (movies, etc.) off of the CDs instead of the hard drive. You will notice a performance hit and increased loading times for cutscenes and when moving between areas.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive? Can you get a bigger drive? They're pretty inexpensive right now; I saw a Maxtor 40 GB 7200 RPM drive at Circuit City for about $89 (US) and you can get smaller (refurbished or retail) drives for less. Some internet vendors will ship internationally. Go check out pricewatch.com. They are a site that lists the specials vendors have at the moment and can probably direct you to a retailer who will be happy to sell you a hard drive for a low price (of course, you often get what you pay for, so be careful who you deal with).

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
