Heya, I just got IWD today and I seem to have found a problem and was wondering if is my comp's fault, or something is wrong with the disk. Anywho, I put it it, hit install, and it all goes well. At around 80% it stops and I get an error message. Tried doing this a few times, and it always happens. Also, I've tried to find any support for stuff like this, but I can't find it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Try following the steps outlined here. Make sure your sound and video card drivers are up-to-date.

Tried that site to no avail =( All drivers up-to-date, and my comp meets the sys reqs on the box. Here is the exact error message:

An error occurred during the move data process: -106

Component: Recommended\Compressed
File Group: Recommended compressed
File: CREmcyc.bif

I hope my comp isn't creating this, I'd really like to play, heh.

Try doing the following:

Make sure you have enough space on the drive where you are installing Icewind Dale. Check your disks and make sure there are no scratches on them. If they are dirty or smudged, clean them with a soft cloth, then try re-installing. If that fails, check the integrity of the problem file by copying CREmcyc.cbf from disk #2 to your hard drive. If it copies with no problems, then you can try one of these options:
  • Try checking for a firmware/BIOS update for your CD or DVD drive. You will have to check with your CD/DVD drive manufacturer for this kind of update.
  • If you have enough space, you can copy both CDs to your hard drive, then run the install from there. You must copy both CDs to the same directory for the install to run. If you get prompted for the next CD, then you have not copied the files over properly, or you have missed some.

The install requires *both* CDs? Odd, cause it never asked for disk 2. There is plenty of HD space, drivers are up to date, etc... Cd's are clean too. If it just skipped that file, I could just copy it over from disk 2...but it doesn't. The install shuts down and everything after it isn't installed either. Oh, just thought of something. Does install run on disk 1 *and* 2, or just 2? that may be my prob, even though it never says either way.

To do a full install, yes, you'll need both.
