Best NPC party, and why!!

Post by Nae'run »

This little question as often asked, and now will I take up once more :p

My Party is EVIL  My main character is a chaotic Evil human, dual-classed F/C figther level 6!!! This is a little difficult, cus' when all off your NPC's is about level 5-7 there aint that much game left, and it is really hard to be a first to third level cleric that late in the game....

As fighter I have Kagain (of course) he is evil like hell, and has 20 in con... thats nice
And since there aint that many Evil characters, I have Viconia and Shar-Teel.... Not much about them, easy to get.
In BG1 there can be only one evil mage!!! and thats Edwin. (who els)
My only problem is Safana (my thief) she is neutral (as I remember), And I like to do some real roleplaying.... that means ONLY EVIL CHARACTERS!!!!!

Anybody with a diffrent idea??
It is my duty as a servant of life to drug people with their own life.... make them high on their daily living!

What about Xzar (CE Necro) and Montaron (NE F/T)?
Tiax is an evil cleric, isn't he?

Yeah, Xzar and Monty are great! Love the evil little halfling in particular, prefer Edwin as Mage.

Also like Eldoth, even though bards aren't that great in BG1.

Faldorn is a good choise for an evil party as well, being a Shadow Druid.

I really have to disagree as to roleplaying forcing you to take only evil NPCs in your party. A truly evil PC would have no problem using good or neutral NPCs as long as they do as told.

There are more evil npc's in BGI than BGII, something that let's the player experiment more with what party he/she will end up with.
Me: LE dual fighter/thief, fighter lvl6 thief all the way.
Must have Edwin, Viconia.
Xzar is very good too, but i really can't stand Montaron so i just let
him die in some battle an that's it. He's gone.
Kargain or Shar-Teel, it's all the same to me.
Eldoth, if i need some more spellcasting, then he's the man.
Also can use a bow and make those arrows, nice.
But because of the whole dual class thing, until i get my thief skills, i keep Montaron until then.

i am this disgusting do gooder. so i never have a evil member. Dosn't that make it pretty hard to finish, i mean you loose a lot of quests and nice exp-points.

me: human/elven (woman fighter)
Kahlid: he is the best fighter
Kivan: he gets pretty wicked with a bow (nice to have long ranged weapons), and you get him pretty early in the game.
Imoen: because i have to!.. no JK. the thief part!
Xan: i love his wiew on life, and he gets pretty wicked too.
Jahiera: it's nice to have a druid to heal me (us)

That's true, although Coran is a better archer.

Imoen is my faforite thief, I never dual here like some people do.

You're so right, and he's not a bad mage either

Branwen is a better healer, and Yeslick a better fighter.
Later in the game you should take Tiax he's the funnyest NPC ever!!!!!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Coran, isn't he the one with the Ankeg quest?!

You know that GameBanshee has a nice NPC section for BG1 as well as BG2, I presume?

I hold Kagain and Shar-Teel as the two best Fighters in BG1. S-T for her low AC and high STR (her CON is lousy, so make sure to get the Claw of Kazgaroth for her since the CON penalty won't matter) and Kagain for his loads of HPs and natural regeneration (make sure to give him the Gauntlets of DEX).

Coran is by far the best archer though I personally prefer Kivan. Coran is the NPC who wants to take you Wyvern hunting in Cloakwood.

Me - Dwarven Fighter.

Minsc - IMO he's the best tank in the game.

Imoen - Best thief.

Viconia - Drow rule!

Coran - As an archer.

Xzar - Edwin is better but can't be paired with Minsc so Xzar is the alternative...

MY party i mixed (50/50) between good and evil characthers.

I have:

ME, Fighter/Thief CG

Coran, Fighter/Thief CG

Imoen, Thief soon dualled to mage (Ithink... she's at level 9 right now)

Montaron, Fighter/Thief Evil

Viconia, Cleric Evil

and ofcourse

Edwin...

I belive that backstabbing rules...so me and montaron just backstabbs everything to death...=)

The only thin i 'miss is more magic, but who care?
If there's something more important than my ego. I want it caught and shot now.

3 fighter/thiefes? isn't that to much??? And why dual at level 9? that's very late, she'll never make it to level 10 as a mage. I hardly finish the game above level 8 when i have 6member party, and you have 9party members (3 multiclass-characters)
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Without an XP cap remover, I don't think that Imoen would be able to get back her thieving abilities....the max level for a mage is 9 in ToTSC.....

Why three Fighter/Thiefs was the question?

Cause i backstab every enemy i meet up to three times.
And every profession of thiefs (lockpick, hide in shadows, detect traps) are well covered with atleast 100 on each profession.

Tell me that enemy that survives two backstabs...none i can assure you.

And to imoen well i'll let her finish the game as thief...currently doing Durlags Tower...

If you're that fond of backstabs, I would recommend you created a pure thief that you could later make into an Assassin in BG2. Don't forget to find the Tome of Dex.

Don't say that outload, a badly planned sorcerer can be very poor in battle.

I like to see the sorcerer more like an "I-do-not-need-to-prepare-for-battle-mage"

SPOILER WARNING!!!!!

I belive that the sorcerer are the best in the game...(ok, if they are well done...) The fun part with them are that you wont need to prepare them for battle, you can just enter the battle and win it...=)

my evil party

My group consisted of :
Me/Bard
Kaigain/Fighter
Viconia/cleric
Edwin/Mage
Shar-Teel/Fighter-Thief(dueled her thief at level 3)
Monteron/fighter-thief

the group bashed their way through most of the game with ease except monteron kept dying on me perhaps need a basher pc and use eldoth as a bard or Xzar as a second mage.
but i was able to stay in the evil role play...shar-teel became quite a formible thief
