After Underdark: bug or screwed plot?

I have just returned from the Underdark, where I skipped the Mind Flayer dungeon.

When I came back to my stronghold (planar sphere) the first strange thing happened: I had to give that guy the silver blade because everytime I tried to fight him for it, the game started what seemed to be a scripted cut-scene and then - nothing happened. He and my party would just stand there doing nothing. The game was not paused or something, since the character animations continued. No escape/spacebar/h helped so I had to ctrl-alt-del the game.

After that I decided I DID want to fight the mind flayers and returned to the underdark.
I got captured and fought in the arena, after which I am told by the servant he is going to come back to fetch me for a second fight - but he never does. I waited for half an hour, even rested. Nothing.

Are those bugs or did I screw something up by not going to the Mind Flayers BEFORE meeting the guy in the slums?
If there is no way around it, is the Mind Flayer dungeon worth it or should I just skip it?

BTW, I'm playing the german version - but I think that is identical to the US version besides language.

I didn't think the guy reclaiming the blade was related to Underdark - the blade is from Sahuagin and so are the guy and his cronies.

When I returned to Waukeen's Promenade after exiting Underdark I had this encounter - after refusing to return the blade a fairly nasty fight ensued.

Your problem sounds more like a bug with the fight than a quest sequence problem.

Actually, the blade is Githyanki, not Sahaugin. And the fight is a random encounter. For instance, I had a weird encounter in mine. In one map travelling, I was waylaid by brigands, and I ended up seeing, "Terminsel", Drizzt and his party, and the Githyanki that wanted the sword back. Suffice it to say, that Gith didn't live to long, as both Drizzt's group, and "Terminsel" pitched into the fight. Heh, it was a fun fight.

"There CLUES"

"Ya ya, whatever. Geez, one letter off, so crucify me!"

Religious ones should get this, if you don't and want to, just ask.

Hm, it takes some time if you choose to fight them, coz more Githyanki are summoned up, I had to wait about 30 secs...

Do you have the patch? Those both sound like game bugs to me.

Magus, mighty conjurer, and summoner of hordes of...magical flying swords
----And yes, I am magusg, but I got tired of looking at that silly "pick an alternate name" name

Yes, I have the patch and have definetly waited long enough in both cases.
Is there something important in the MF dungeon? Else I will just skip it and play on...

Did you go into the cell with the githranki (spelling?) that was NE of your cell. There is a door in the top right wall. My game didn't continue until I had spoken to the creatures in there.

Good luck

i dont think the githyanki enter the cell until after your first fight.
