Ability score drained __precautions??

This goes along with Sola mod, but nevermind.
My question is whether there is a way to avoid "ability score drained" caused by those annoying spirit trolls (I think) and umberhalks. Is there any spell to help out with it?
TIA
Cheers

I don't remember for sure if negative plane protection works on those or just on level drain. Its temporary so I never worry about it..

If you send a summoned Mordenkainen's Sword in ahead of you you can just take them out with ranged attacks while the summons keeps them occupied.

Chain Contingency with Triple Abu's set to for enemy sight. Cheesy but it usually works. Never tried it on Spirit Trolls, but use it alot on Vvmps when I get to Bodhi's Lair the 2nd time.

@ Glod --- Sure it's temporary, but when it happens a member of my party has his/her strenght ability dropped down considerably and can't move. And if he/she is in the middle of some umberhalks and trolls dies sooner than you think. I'll try negative plane protection, but I don't think it will work.
@ Ode --- I know I can try summoning swords, annimals, etc. But I'm just curious if there is an actual spell which can protect against it.
@ genxooseven -- I'm too early in the game to have such spells in my possesion: I'm at Nalia's Castle, my very first quest since I've got to Athkatla.

Gotta wand of Cloudkill? If not get one and give it to a mage. I presume your having trouble in the main hall where all those Spirit Trolls 1st appear. Just fire 2/3 shots while ur next to the door leading to the main hall, then walk up a little and fire one directly into the main room. That'll trigger them to run toward the door where you are. Run back in and close the door and you should have takin down the all the Umber Hulks, all the Blizzard Trolls, and a few Spirit Trolls. There be a 1-2 left if you did it right, maybe none at all if your lucky. Do the same when you get to Torgal's Mainroom. Oh yea as far as I know you can't protect against it and Negative only works for vamps. Maybe I'm wrong.

You can use potions that improve the particular stats to boost them up again, but I don't think there are any spells that prtect against the effects.
