i had the same problem, but what was wierd was that i have 2 computers, exactly same video card, and the slower one could run it, but the other couldnt. i tried everything, changing bios, the .ini file, etc. for the record i have a 32 meg geforce2 gts card.

so here is your problem, your videocard's driver does not have directx 8 support. if you have a geforce card, try http://www.dell.com and search for drivers, thats how i got mine. or if you bought you comp from a dif company, try their site and look for your video driver. if you made your computer yourself, try searching other companies websites that sell the video card you have. the drivers for directx 8 came out about 9 months ago, so they should be around. if this doesnt work, reply and i can try to help you.

What about when it crashes the rest of the time?

Im using a GeForce2 MX (which isnt even supported according to the box) with the latest Detonator driver (28.32)and I havent had a crash yet. So far the game is running fine for me, but Im getting worried that when my upgrades arrive, I'll start to have problems.

I got the same kit here..

It crashes when i press "Alt", when i save, when a new area loads, when i cough..

All at seemingly random times with no pattern

If i play for 3 or so hours it`ll crash 6 or 7 times

I also had the same problem, but getting the detonator XP drivers off of Nvidia's website fixed it for me. (I'm running a GeForce 2 GTS, by the way.)
