Removing Traps without a thief

Is it possible? Normally I just have Korgan walk over a trap or open a container to set the trap off, but what about traps that are a) able to kill even Korgan very easily, b) floor traps that go off EVERY time you walk over it, as opposed to just once, or c) both. I know I can find traps with Viconia's find trap spell but now I need to get rid of it. Any Ideas?

Unfortuantely thieves are the only characters that can remove traps. The only alternative is to use the find traps spell and try to avoid setting them off.

Typically you can walk around the edges of a trap even if it seems to cover the entire passage. I don't know for a fact that every trap follows this pattern, but most of the traps I have detected but been unable to remove have been avoidable.
Obviously this doesn't apply to trapped chests or doors. I think it is possible to avoid these types of traps by the appropriate mage Spell Imunity spell. Possibly Spell Reflection or Spell Trap might work as well. (I believe I observed this while wearing the cloak of mirroring recently).

Well, this particular trap sets off a prismatic spray, and there was no way to go around it (it wasnt on a door, but rather in a doorway, but the area the trap covered was bigger then the width of the doorway so there was no way of getting around it.) I managed to get by without being hurt by casting haste and having everyone move through the room as fast as possible one at a time to get to the other door before the spray reached them, and doing that nobody got hurt.
Do you guys think it is worth it to have Valygar in my group or should I drop him and take Yoshimo instead to make picking locks and disarming traps a lot easier?

Who is in your party now?

Me (Ranger), Minsc, Korgan, Yoshimo, Viconia and Edwin. Actually, the most useless person in the party is Viconia, I never need her for healing because most of the time her heal spells take forever anyway, although it is nice once in a while to have her heal after a fight so I dont have to bother with resting, and she does have a few nice spells. Other then that, Yoshimo is really the lowest damage dealer in the party and doesnt have any really special skills...

Sorry, I may be waaay off, but shouln't you just be using Yosh to disarm the traps? He is a thief after all.

well your team could use some work
(evil and good on the same team ends in fights you know)
and take Jan he has thief skills and can cast spells at the same time
but shouln't you just be using Yosh to disarm the traps?
Do you guys think it is worth it to have Valygar in my group or should I drop him and take Yoshimo instead
i think he meant Valygar

You're right, I did mean Valygar, not Yoshimo.
I dont see where I can have a choice though if I want my party to be evil. The only evil characters Ive met so far are Viconia, Edwin and Korgan. I want to keep minsc cause I couldnt bring myself to discharge him, so that just leaves Valygar to kick out for Yoshimo. Im definately going to kick out Valygar as soon as Imoen comes back cause Imoen was half decent at disarming traps and was a fairly good mage as well. But should I take Yoshimo right now or just keep Valygar until I get Imoen back?

Actually, now Im thinking more of getting rid of Viconia. Will it really be THAT much harder without her?

You will need a cleric.I use normally 2!
Drop Valygar.Take Yoshi or that irritating gnome.
I would also boot minsc as well.
Korgan is a solid tank and you are ranger as well.

1) Any party, regardless of content, can succeed.
2) If you want life to be comfortable, include a cleric.

What Ive finally decided to do is boot Korgan and get Yoshimo. I dont want to drop Valygar cause he is a pretty good scout for me and can backstab too, and so on. I was going to boto viconia then, cause she is kind of useless in the party, However, I did want to have the romance with her (figured it would be insteresting, her being a drow and all) so I decided to keep her. I wanted to keep Minsc cause hes been with me the whole time and while you guys may find him annoying and dumb, I actually like listening to what he has to say. And Edwin is the most powerful member of my party, and I would probably never be able to kill any mages without him so Im keeping him. That just left Korgan to drop. Korgan is a tank, and the best one Ive seen so far, and is awesome with Frostreaver at close range and pretty damn good with that throwing axe thing I got in the sewers at long range too, but I can easily live without him and I still have 3 rangers anyway which are all pretty solid tanks so I can do without him (plus I find Korgan very annoying, only slightly less annoying then Edwin)

I agree with Rattman (that must be a first

), your party could do with some reorganization.
First, why do you want to play an "evil" party? Your party now features three Rangers, who per definition are good aligned (in second edition). You also want to add Imoen, who is good aligned as well.
You're probably not using Valygar very well if he has the lower percentage of kills. Is he dualwielding Katanas? That's the most popular choise of weapon for him. You can get Celestial Fury right away and his own Katana is great.
You find Edwin annoying - then why keep him? The other Mages have mage spells as well.
Have you chosen a kit for your Ranger? Since you use Minsc as tank, and Valygar as backstabber and scout, I would recommend your PC being an Archer. If you want to keep as many of your NPCs as possible, I recommend the following party:
Minsc - tank; twohanded sword, axes, flails...
Valygar - backstabber and scout, comes into play when the enemies are focusing on Minsc; katanas
You - archer, takes out strategic targets such as mages; long bow, spear...
Viconia - cleric and romance interest; hammer, flail, mace, sling...
Jan - thief (no more problems with traps or locks) and backup mage (if Edwins spells have done the work for you, what could be better than an extra mage?); staff, short sword, dagger, x-bow...
Imoen - main mage; staff, long sword, short bow, darts...

Keep in mind Melondar, that the game easy enough.
It doesn't matter what group you have or what level you are on.
Just use the persons YOU find appealing and fun to play with, and just see what happends. Or else you end up playing with their partys instead of what you would have chosen for.
You don't need to follow their advice, (though it is good

).
Everything will turn out alright.

Rob-hin is perfectly right, of course, but a balanced, versatile party makes the game more fun IMO.

a balanced, versatile party makes the game more fun
have you ever tryed a gang of 6 thief's or a gang or other 6 of the same
it can make the game quite fun if you get bored with the same old party's
I agree with Rattman
awwww thanks
