Hello people -
Is Morrowind worth buying - you have all obviously played it and seen what it has to offer. Is the game as good as it sounds? It sounds to me like u can explore almost anything - and if I wanted could play as a little backwater scrot just pickpocketing my way around etc.......
Im a poor student and really have to justify buying things like this. And since I have found a rental place that has the game - (yes we have PC rentals here) I cant really have a quick trial.
Is it a game you can lose yourself in ?? And if I buy it should I be prepared to face sleepless nights due to addiction?

- As for what I enjoy - BG's wilderness's were great - I love exploring.
- I love the games when you become 'one' with your character and end up caring for them (BG and BG2's main Char's)........
- Also I like digging up cool treasure and armour etc (well finding it or looting it off dead bodies)....

Well, possibilities to explore ther's almost unlimited. You may go almost anywhere, and, if not, there's almost always a logical gamebound reason. That's might be not true regarding NPCs, though, the number of them most probably is limited, at least of named ones, however i'm not in game long enough to know for sure. Somebody has told me there are even spontan and random miniquests generated time to time, not sure, though, however some posts on the board still let me hope it might be true.
Map system is not excelent, however good enough. You'll spend lot of time walking or running, thats sure, and anyway it's very time-consuming game (even more if your PC happens to be slow ). Sometimes it's pain to found certain location or NPC. Lot of societies to join or been kicked out, as you wish Rich and true 3D, you my climb any mountain you can avail, all items what you see you can take (i'm not saying "may" or "must", note it). Always be ready for death of your character and save often, esp. outdoors, surprises and unexpected encounters happen often. There isn't the hard-easy levels of playing, however lot of opponents are adjusted to your current level. Altogether it's true the level not always truly represent the real power of a being, though.
Requirements on PC are to be taken in consideration, too. You must have at least 256M memory for W2K (128 for W98 or so it is said, though). More is better, of course. Check the compatibility with your video card.
I got it just to easy the time until NWN would came out and with some scepticism (i've never played any of Elder Scrolls until now). Now i enjoy it, at least for now.
If you loved BG, IMHO, you'll love this, too. However it's just MHO, decision is up to you

Un-maimed, it sounds from what you've said like you would really enjoy Morrowind. I hesitate to say "Run out and BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW!>!>!>!>!" because of what you've said about money, but I know that this is definitely the kind of game you stay up all night playing, and the kind of game where you become very identified with your character. Also if you enjoyed exploring the wilderness in BG (many didn't), I think you'll love it.

I would only continue to recommend getting the game if your computer is up to playing it, though. You might want to list your specs and see if anyone has been gettin good results on a similar system.

Being a BG fan myself I must say that this game is excellent. I'm not gonna say it's better then BG( or worse). The graphics in this game are awesome, the level of freedom is unmatched in any other rpg I've played, the size of this game is far greater then BG2, if you spent about 60 hours playing BG2 you can expect to spend MUCH more time playing this game. The only thing that you won't find in this game is party interaction( cause you're all by your lonesome self here.) Doesn't bother me though. Oh and I think someone mentioned that this game requeres you to have a pretty high-end machine to run it. It's true. Mine isn't that powerful, but it plays OK, slows down after a few hours though. (I got P3 1Gig, 128MB Ram, 32MB GeForce2)

As for my specs -
Athalon 750
256 ram
32 meg Riva TNT2 (I think).....
The system had no probs running Medal of Honour (another 'high spec' game)...

If you live in the US Comp USA has them on sale now for like $35 or $40. In fact I'm on my way out the door now for them to give me the price adjustment
