Upon entering the Asylum and finding Imoen, I get sent somewhere by Irenicus and have to defeat Bhaal. He quickly gets to "close to death" but then seems to be invincible. I can't see this on the walkthrough. Help!!

Hello and welcome to GB

First off, did you go talk to Imoen before attacking Bhaal? If so, then this is likely to be his dialog script not kicking in when he reaches 'Near Death'. When he gets to that point try backing off a bit, as further damage can cause the dialog to not appear.

Imoen's Help needed (SPOILER)

Jill .. you will have to at first go in and respond to Imoen's calling you in the dream ... at the entrance to your conscience you will see a monster waiting to ask you to give up something .. strength, wisdom, constitution (I chose wisdom .. since my PC was a fighter it made not difference to his skills .. I think!!) .. once you do .. it lets you enter ..

Here inside the house (your inner self) you find Imoen .. she will ask you to lead Bhaal to her so that she can join forces with you and both of you can defeat her.

Then you go outside and once you see Bhaal and he gives his speech and attacks you ... you have to run making sure he follows you toe to toe .. so that soon as you enter the house again .. he appears right next to you .. Then move towards Imoen .. Bhaal follows.
Here Imoen will say that Yes she can see him .. Now start whacking him with all might and potion power .. what have you!!
When he gets near death .. he will give up and your dream will be over!!
