Intelligence for an Assasin?

I dont get it. It turns out I was right and this silly attribute is one of the "favorite" for Assasins but WHY i ask WHY! Is it for security? if so how does it influence it. All i can tell is Intelligence raises magicka, which moves nothing at all to me.
