I never understood this,
what dous it do,
Is it responsible for my attacks per round?
Could someone please explain?

This is how I think it works, so I might be completely wrong.

The speed factor of the weapon determine the waiting period before you can make your attack within the round. Let's say you have 1 attack per round, with a weapon of speed factor 5, you'll need to wait for 5 seconds before you can attack - if it's more than 6, you'll attack at the end of the round, since one round is 6 seconds.

However I don't really know how it works if you have more than 1 attack per round; either you wait for the 5 seconds and make all your attacks one after the other; or the round is broken up according to the number of attacks you have, and then you attack after a proportional delay in each of the bit.

Sounds logical.
And the attacks per round ar determend(sp?) by you're proficence and level/class aren't they not?

As far as I know, yes, attacks per round are determined by level/class/proficient points. There are limitation though, I believe you can only have a natural max of 5 attacks per round with a melee weapon, and I think that ToB limits range to a lower number - can't remember what it was.

Yup!! That's what it does .. affects how many hits you get in one round.
Actually I never studied carefully about the delay .. so caught up I am while whacking .. But will look at text carefully next time. But Sabre might have a point their .. 'cause I remember when Nalia was using the Tuigan bow she dithers for a while and three arrows shoot out in quick succession at the round's end.

I don't think that speed factor is 1 per full second. Otherwise though I think that was correct.

In PnP ADD speed factor is the number that is added to your initiative to make up the order in which you attack in a round.
For example you are attacking with a long sword SF 5 and your opponent with an axe SF 8 .Let's suppose that you both roll 5 for initiative.That gives you a modified initiative of 10 and 13 for your opponent.That means you attack first.
I thought that it would be working the same way in BG since the rules are the same.

My druid dual wields scimitars, one a speed factor 2, one a speed factor 0. She has three attacks per round. I guess the round is as long as the slowest weapon, since there is a slight delay then she makes all three attacks at once. ie every two seconds she will hit mainhand, offhand, mainhand.

Doesn't the speed factor refer to the part of the round instead of seconds like for spells (ie. speed factor of 5 means 5/10 of a round)?
