Ok this is ticking me off.

I get BG2 Yesterday and do the full install and got an error on line 250 and it was suggested on the BG site to reinstall so i did.. didn't work and did again with no luck. went and downloaded DX8, and Creatives new drivers. I already have the Det3 for my Geforce. reinstalled BG2 with no luck.. uninstalled and tried to reinstall and it tells me that it is unable to extract the support files and won't install at all now.

Config is as follows
Abit VP6 Via chipset
2x800mhz/100mhz PIII's
512mb Ram
14gig IBM drive w/~8gig free
GeForce2GTS 64mb
SBLive! Platinum
Creative DVD & Generic CDR
Win2k Pro.

Any Suggestions?
Thanks

That's a nice system you have there!

Did you try contacting Tech Support on the official site?

Also, did you check the CD's for possible scratches and such? Might be some nasty fingerprints on it, perhaps? One of the things you COULD try to see if the CD's are the problem is to copy the ENTIRE CD to your HD. If it does so without problems with all 4 CD's, then it's at least not a damaged disc ...

Otherwise, I can't help you ...

Thanks Image

I've been all through Interplay's and Bioware's sites and found nothing.

I checked the disks and their fine.. I did try copy'n them to the drive and even burnt a copy of disk one.

It won't even run the setup program when i try it gives me

Code: Select all

Unable to extract support files
Old format or Invalid type
I was going to contact them by phone, but Interplay will just tell me either that Windows 2000 is not supported or its a driver or disk problem. Its possable it is the disk but one would think I'd wouldn't be able to copy it.

*sigh* wish i didn't throw the receipt away Image

Good news.. sort i think.. I found why It wouldn't install.. its not Interplay's fault this time heh... It is the version of Install Shield they used and Win2k not liking each other..

I went to C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32\
renamed ikernel.exe to ikernel.exe.bak and its letting me install now.

I'm going to try to finish the install.. wish me luck Image
