I was reminded of this in the food and drink (now the coffee) thread by Dragon Wench.
So, what was the first thing that you bought when you got your first ever paycheck?
For those who are still students and haven't gotten any work experience yet, what would you buy when you get your first pay check?
For me, way back in '95 I bought myself a cappuccino maker by KRUPS.

A very new, just released 400MHz processor. Heaven.
Actually the first thing I bought was a car. Or should I say, started to buy. 3 years later and I'm still paying for it. *sigh*, only 8 more months to go!

LOL. Shine cannot be made electronically! It comes from the heart, or failing that, some organ
Anyways, my first paycheck got split to taking my family out to dinner, and to taking my then girlfried out to coffee. Glad I only bought coffee for that bi.....

@Mar, I don't buy shine makers, we always build our own from spare parts.

I spent my first paycheck on wine, women, and song. Some things never change.

Well it would be spent all on the family.
Take them out to dinner and get something really nice for my sis.

According to the forum rules I'm not allowed to say, let's just leave it that my (admittedly small) paycheck went
up in smoke.

In my remarkebly short working life, prior to experiencing an unpredictable and ever changing time table

I spent my first pay check on a whole chicken, just cooked. One of my most satisfying dinners yet.
Of course it did upset my parents who made me dinner as well as my brothers who didn't get a single piece, but it
was mine after all.
