In the Temple Ruins, just before entering area 7 in the walkthrough where you have to step on the letters, there are several monsters I just can't seem to get past. Any ideas? Feel free to email me or post responses here.

BTW my current NPC's are Jaheira, Minsk, Aerie, Nalia, and Valygar, all with max XP. The sad part is I haven't even figured out how to get past them using the cheat codes! HEEELLLP!

Depends, do you want to use the cheat (easy) or not (hard)? I have the cheats and used them after winning a number of times without cheating. All of the ones I used work.

Yes, those Liches with bodyguards are tough. If you are at max XP you should have a high level anti-Spell Protection like the 'Ruby Ray of Reversal'. Use this to remove the nasty 'Spell Trap'.
If you have done that breach his combat protections and cast anti-undead magic like Sunray. This should finish the Lich and his minions rather quickly.

I'll tell you what, If you've got cheats that will work, that I don't have, please let me know. This is the only combat scene I haven't been able to get past so far and I'm really frustrated. Maybe the cheats I've found have typos I haven't figured out yet. I don't know. I'd appreciate anything at this point. you can email me at lipo@woh.rr.com if you want.

well, for starters...get soemone to run over there and run back to lure the mummies away. i assume you can at least handle them. and then you just have to deal with the lich, everyoen has their own style. i usually send in minsc or someone with berserkign ability(makes immune to imprisonment) and make the lich chase me around in circles till his protection spells wear off then beat the living crap out of him. or send a mage in to cast breach to speed up things.

Did the 'berserking/immune to imprisonment' work for you? I only tried this in the Kangaxx battle and it had absolutely no effect.

Well Lipo,
Try to use a 40th level Paladin with 105% magic resistant who owns :
1)Holy avenger
2)Crom Faeyr
3)2x Ring of Gaxx
4)Plate of Balduran
5)Helm of Balduran
6)Kaligun's Amulet of Magic Resistant
7)Belt of Inertia
8)Cloak of Balduran
9 Boots of Speed

and it will get u thru all the combat scenarios (talk about cheating) Image

The 4th lvl cleric spell Death Ward comes in handy to fight liches. Cast that and Chaotic Commands on Minsc or another strong fighter (the combo of the two protections beat most liches' spells) and send him in after you have lured and beaten the mummies, and the lich should be no problem.

yeah, i had no problem with liches. my berserker just hacks away at 'em. but if my enraged state ends then i run for cover, bereserk again, and go back into battle. liches aren't too bad except for the imprisonment part. they usually summon a demon or efreeti, but then will turn around and use all of their spells on their own summonings

and a cleric castign sunray is always a plus

O.K. berserking seems to protect from the imprisonment spell, but did it also protect from Kangaxx special ability?
In my game it did not.

no I only found spell immunity and wizards eye to be the only things to protect me from him.

I have never seen a lich in the Temple Ruins dungeon. Does monster selection depend on your XP level?

The first time I went down the tanner's shop in the Bridge District I fought the rune assasins and ghouls. The second time though there was a bone golem as well!

Yes, those Liches only appear if you have reached a certain level.
Also, if you do the Windspear dungeon with a high-level party there will be lots of Adamantine Golems around, that you wouldn't encounter early in the game.

BTW, since some of you talk about liches, do you notice a pattern in their spell selection? (at least the bridge and city gate lich follow this one):

Spell Trigger (inv. globe and fireshield)
Chain Contingency.
Time Stop
Meteor Swarm
Protection from Evil.
Gate.

Then they start throwing all their spells at the pit fiend (my favorite part) Image :
After this they cast all the Symbols (death, fear, stun) and the Wail and so forth.
