The "I Hate Cliff Racers" Thread

Just wanted to say I'm really sick of 'em. Can't walk anywhere without being attacked by one of them every 2 minutes or so. I want to kill them all!

The mod "Cliffracer Remover" (or some such) at this site is configurable in three ways. You can choose the aggro level of the Racers or just get rid of 'em completely (I installed the one to keep them generally passive unless I get too close).

Get it here:

That's cool...thanks! I wish there was a mod where I could have all the cliff racers in Morrowind explode at once or something. I'd enjoy that.

I don't find them that much of a fuzz..more like a good way to up my Axe skill in a decent way. My lvl7 Hellmage (sortof battlemage) can wack them to pieces with 2 swings anyways. And they're fun target practice for my bigass long distance spells..see if I can take'em out with one shot? or two shots? Fun.
So I ain't (snitching -Ed) :)

I even turned the tables on one of them, by levitating so high that I'd be the one on top!!! "HAH! Take THAT mother(trucker -Ed) bird!" I screamed down at him while nuking him with fireblasts!! Then I fell down and broke a leg in the fall. But it was fun while it lasted. Cheers.

Everyone should try that at least ONCE in their lives. Ever tried Levitating backwards?
You can do all that mime "walking-against-the-wind" moonwalk
(spit -Ed)!! (watch yourself in 3rd person of course). The female cliff racers just faint in your presence!! You'll be one smoooooooth
mothah mage. So remember folks, next time you see a cliff racer with longer hair than the other ones, activate levitate, do da moooonwalk and watch them drop out of the sky like fish when you go dynamite fishing!!!

They are good, clean fun for marksmanship and destruction skill development. ;)

You can avoid them without editing the game in any way. Just do the very quick and simple Boots of Blinding Speed quest and you can easily outrun them and everything else that comes after you.

I'm wearing those boots now, but I still find the most effective method (for a thiefly character, anyway) to be:
SNEAK when you hear one (or the music change), arm yourself with a bow, then peg the winged lizard with a sharp n' pointy blade-on-a-stick :)

Some wonderful modder really needs to make a custom spell... 'Vivec's Merciful Cliffracer Explosion'. I don't care how much mana it costs to cast, I just want to savor watching cliffracers burst apart at the seams and come flying in all directions as bloody chunks.

When you levitate everywhere as a standard form of transportation, it's rare for 20 seconds to go by without another cliffracer showing up.

I just love them

Annoying a bit in beginning, though, they are easy prey and fill my petty soul gems nicely. They are weak for enchanting, though at the lower levels good enough, nonetheles it brings good enough profit and are easy to be sold, almost every merchant can afford them. So give me more of them :D
I wonder, however, how do they manage to catch me anyway, even if i'm wearing the Boots of Blinding Speed - they should have spead at least 250

what is that armor that makes you invulnerable to the boots blind effects??/

and how does the quest start anyway??

i have hint guide, but cant remember where the quest is...

spoil me pls...

thinking of making a daedric mace with paralysis effect, looks low cost in charges with item maker, and its like being hit with hand to hand...

should knock them out of the sky, and if it does not kill them, they wil just lie there, until paralysis wears off, then get up, and come after me....

giggle..

imagine gliding along, thinking about getting a bite off thenext impudent adventure who floats by, then being knocked out of the sky, and waking up on the ground...

The Cuirass of the Savior's Hide gives you 60% magic resistance (and great Light Armor AC) and pretty much makes you immune to the blinding effects of the boots. I didn't get a quest, but found it exploring...discovered Tel Fyr and had my handy Levitation ring with me ;) . It's in a locked closet in the Hall of Fyr's highest level. You can also get Scourge and the Daedric Crescent from this area too.

EDIT: I think the modded and aggro-adjusted Cliff Racers are ok...if I mind my own business, they (usually) mind theirs. I absolutely HATE having to ALWAYS fight a mob that's not in my way or even worth killing. C'mon, you would think that if all humanoids were considered food for these things that maybe the rulers of Vvardenfell would have exterminated their mindlessly aggressive a$$es by now ;)

reply to armor spoiler above

I, too, made a little loot run to Tel Fyr, and the Saviour's Hide and Daedric Crescent are now two of my thief's favourite toys. So I have to ask, what and where is Scourge? (I must have missed it!) Worth a trip back?

@Odonatathrope:

There's a bunch of books in Tel Fyr that talk about a lot of the unique artifacts in the game. One book talks about Scourge.

Spoiler below:

--->Scourge is a unique mace. I personally don't find it very useful since my blunt weapon skill is between 5 and 8, but it does decent damage. I think the Crescent beats it hands down, so you might not want to bother with it until you contract Corprus and need the cure (when you go back to Tel Fyr) or unless you just really want a mace.

It's located in a chest, in the same room as the 'immortal' wizard (to your left as you enter the archway).

thanks S_S! I'll leave it until the corpus quest. Between the crescent, my personal creation (The Dragonfly's Kiss Daedric Katana), and the Daedric bow I stole from the fletcher's shop (thanks to Bethesda for a great plug-in), don't think I need a mace right now!

thanks sam...scourge is great!!!!

like the squid head helm from house trevanni quests, keep anything that summons for you close....

unfortuanately the summons glove from trevanni crashes my game, so i dont use that, but scourge and sheobogath, my daedric tower shield that summons saints, are two good itmes...

say, does star trek the nest generation know about the cresent???

its a klingon batlet..

i will piakc up the boots and armor after killing dagoth ur....

plan to join the imperial cult and guard, now i am fully nevarine and will flaunt my imperial status...

but i want the armor, since i will NOT give up dragon bone, so i can create a belt with same effects....giggle...
