Order of Enchanting

I realize I could have posted this with many of the other enchanting topics, but for fear no one would read this important fact, I started a new one.

When making a constant effect enchantment (and possibly "cast when used" enchantments), the order of the enchantment matter. For example, my Deadric tower Sheild has 225 enchant points. If I make the first one 5pt health restore and the second 10 pts fortify attribute, it costs over 300 enchant pts (which I don't have). However, if I add the attribute one first, THEN the health restore, I get an even 225.

I think the second enchantment (and possibly 3rd and 4th and etc etc ) get negative modifiers for each one based on the effect of the spell. So having the Fortify attribute second make it much larger than having a Health Restore second.

So when you do multiple enchantments that don't fit into your item, try rearranging and maybe they will.

That's an important point, CGClay.

I've noticed that to set the enchantments back to a reasonable level I often have to delete the first enchantment and add it back in.

example:

If I add Restore Health to an item and then add Restore Fatigue, I will always have to delete the Restore Health line...then add it back in so the item will hold the enchantment.

agreed...bump....

i've pretty much played the game thru, almsot all stats in 100s....

going for honor badges, like tong grandmaster, master thief, etc.

and the only thing i really go for are new enchant ment ideas.....

this one is yummy...

finally try again for hte perfect amulet, magic restore and helath restore, but better than 1-2 each.....

sounds like if you put the lesser effect FIRST< your greater costs less...

will have to try....
