Nothing says loving like killing ordinators

For anyone looking for a gold supply that doesn't involve soul trap exploits, milking the creeper or downloading a merchant mod, I give you one of Morrowind's most inexhaustible resources:

The Ordinator.

Each ordinator carries more then 40,000 gold in gear. There are over 100 ordinators, and most will respawn.

But I can hear some of you say, "But I don't want to be an outlaw. If I go around killing ordinators there will be a price on my head!" Actually, there's a way to do it without getting yourself in any legal trouble. Find an isolated ordinator. Engage him in conversation. Taunt him into attacking you. You'll get no bounty on you for killing him in self-defense. Loot his corpse and wear his helmet and/or cuirass. Then talk to another ordinator, they'll see what you're wearing and attack. Killing them is, again, self-defense.

Now, if you're a Tribunal Temple devotee, killing Ordinators for fun and profit probably isn't for you. But if you're an imperial tired of their condescending attitude, or an Imperial Temple priest who gets annoyed at the mere mention of Vivec, or even just someone out for some quick cash, then welcome to the goldmine.

I'd recommend being levels 10-15 or so before trying this. Ordinators have a goodly amount of hit points and some spell casting ability. OTOH, they seem to be very vulnerable to magic themselves.

there's a problem... if you talk to any ordinator while wearing indoril, all the others will than attack you on site and it quickly becomes annoying having to fight them all the time (after all, most players will spend a lot of time in vivec).
there's actually a more elegant way - get a little price on your head, say 5 gold for unlocking a door or something. then just walk up to an ordinator and talk to him, he'll try to arrest you, you ressist and he'll attack. this way you can take them out one at a time and the rest will still leave you alone.

I prefer my way. Yours, you'd loose any stolen items you had. With mine, if you don't want to fight, calm humanoid works well :)

calm humanoid is a major cheesy spell...

pick someones pocket, and fail, calm them, and as long as you are in a room with no guards near, keep picking them until sucess...

now is calm creatuer a better bound to weapon spell than calm humanoid??

i mean lots of creatuers in game, and calm creature should work on humanoids, right????

@UserUnfriendly, you using cheese in a game, well i never, i always thought you were a purist and this type of behaviour was below you  :D

@CJ, who do you then sell all of this stuff to? :o

SPOILER:

I killed the Commona Tong in Balmora and the guard came and attacked me, i dispensed with him and traveled over to Fort Monmouth. The weird thing is that i came back to Balmora after about 3 quests and suddenly the guard reappears and tries to kill me again even though i don't have any bounty....do you find these deeds come back to haunt you?

Ghostgate has some decent merchants. Creeper and mudcrab work as well, although there is of course the cheese factor there.

Me, I use a mod that ups a merchants cash supply. I don't want to cheese the game by selling ancestor ghost soul gems to the creeper at 4K/pop regardless of my mercantile skill; I just want merchants to be afford to be able to pay me a fair price (based on my in-game skills) for what I'm selling.
