Nalia or Imoen... that is the question

Hey,

who is better to get? Right now, Nalia is level 4 theif, level 14 mage, Imoen is level 7 theif, level 10 mage (i think). I need the powerful mage and I like Nalia, but Imoen at least *appears* to be an integral part of the story. Anyone played it through without Imoen? What happens?

Suggestions?

thanks

You don't really 'need' Imoen for anything. She's your sister though. A trusted friend and, in my opinion, very handy in a scrape. Better than that milksop excuse for nobility.

Ah, yes. The debate about who to take in: the daring sister who would do anything to help her sibling OR the noble who steals from the rich and gives to the poor, leaving you broke in the end.

Tought debate. I don't like Nalia -looks like Drew Berrymore. :D

I took Imoen through (just finished SoA today). At higher lvl's their thieving skills suck anyway, but I HATE Nalia. In fact she is still chilling in Bohdi's guantlet right now :D

Also you can't pass up a chick saying "ready and willing" every 30 seconds :D

I suggest that you choose both of them.

Imoen. She's enough of a thief that you won't need another thief in your party. Lock Nalia in her own dungeons.

Hm... a friend of mine - who, incidentally, was playing a chaotic neutral human berserker with blue skin, two long swords, 18/99 str, and 3 charisma - decided that since he'd just been given control of the De'Arnise Keep, he might as well customize it with some interior decorating. So he CLUA'd in a few cursed scrolls of petrification and handed them to Nalia (and later Anomen)... I'm sure you can see where this is going.

Imoen rules.

Imoen isn't thief enough for me, so I always bring Jan along. And since Nalia is available right from start she's more often than not my choise between the two.

Why not check this thread as well?

Imoen all the way!!! I *hate* Nalia....she's SOOOOO annoying.

But seriously, if you were in the PC's situation, would you try and stop your sister from getting her revenge as well? Anyway, she's such a cool char...definitely a "little sister" type char...

Then again, I can see why some of you might hate her...you actually have little sisters and realise how annoying they can be :D

Also, I found that Imoen added to the story for me. The fact that me, Minsc and Imoen (no Jaheira, but hey) finally face Irenicus again is kinda cool.

I have possibly the world's most annoying little sister, and I still like Imoen.
The contrast between RL and BG2 is nice.

Since when did Drew's stock drop so much? Did I miss out on something? Did she do a Gap commercial or what? :D

Yes, Nalia can be annoying but so can most of the NPCS--thats what makes them so interesting as they have depth (one of the best aspects of BG2) with the possible exception of the rather two dimensional Valygar. But Nalia does suffer from the fact that she's virtually identical to Imoen. And Imoen's Imoen.

RL = Real Life (contrary to for example chatting on the Net or playing RPG), IRL means In Real Life.

Imoen all the time, AND maybe Jan
Also you can't pass up a chick saying "ready and willing" every 30 seconds

LOL, I read it, though the italian voice says another thing....
Maybe this is the real reason we all love her, eheheh, they know our weak points! :D (who doesn't?)

Have to go with Imoen, once you get her back.

Several reasons: 1) No back talk from Imoen. "Good to go" is all she says when you ask her to do something, whether it's pickpocketing Kangaxx or backstabbing Delon cuz you just don't feel like doing the Umar Hills quest.

2) Don't have to put up with annoying chit-chat about helping the less fortunate. (Yeah, I'm playing a CE fighter/thief right now) :)

3) The game revolves around Imoen and the main character. You can tell Nalia to "sod off" in the beginning and the game doesn't end.

Imoen is the way to go, and she only gets better in the expansion.
