Im trying to create a male human swashbuckler. The problem is that i dont kknow what weapons i wanted to choose. I thought about dual wielding two long swords, but that really looked stupid. I want to have a good roleplaying experience, so that means no axes or something stupid like that. I didnt want to pick shortswords cuz i thought they were too weak. If there are any other good weapon choices id be happy if you shared them. thanx

There are plenty of good short swords, like the Arbane Sword, Kundane, and eventually, the Cutthroat +4.
If you're still not interested in short sword, consider Scimitars.
There are good Scimitars in SoA (i.e. Belm), and great Scimitars in ToB. If you don't have ToB, download the Bonus Merchants and buy the Scimitar from Julov (i forgot the name, but it's a long one :) ).

Have fun with your swashy, he's great!

Why not a Long Sword and a Dagger? It's a classic.

shotr swords are a great choice. u can also try daggers. those are primarily the 2 thieving weapons, as they are easy to conceal.

There are some great short swords in the game, especially with ToB installed. You'll probably find a +4 short sword much sooner than it's long sword equivalent and the difference in damage is only 1 point.

Of course - some of the custom long swords (eg Blackrazor, Daystar) are extremely powerful due to their special abilities, but in fact you can beat the game with short swords just as easy.

You start out at 8th Level with four proficiency points. It would be nice if Swashbucklers had more proficiency points, but that's the way it is. If you want to dual-wield immediately, I suggest that you start with two proficiency points in one weapon of your choice and two proficiency points in Two Weapon Style. You'll gain an additional proficiency point every four levels thereafter (12th, 16th, 20th, etc). I recommend that you have two proficiency points in two different weapons and Two Weapon Style by the time you're 16th Level. If you want to stick with one kind of weapon, put a third proficiency point in Two Weapon Style at 12th Level, and consider putting one proficiency point in Single Weapon Style at 16th Level for situations where you need better AC.

I don't think it's unreasonable to dual-wield two weapons of the same type. Dual-wielding katanas is a popular choice. But if you want to stick to something more traditional, long swords and daggers look good together, as do katanas and wakizashis. Personally, I prefer to dual-wield katanas and scimitars.

The best way to figure out which kind of weapon to use is to look at the available weapons. I've listed my favorites in each category below.

If you had an elven Swashbuckler, he'd get a +1 bonus with long swords and you could give him DEX 19. You could dual-wield Blade of Roses +3 and Daystar +2 early in the game. Firetooth +3 makes a great ranged weapon for a Swashbuckler, but I've never given my own Swashbucklers proficiency points in daggers, and I've always let one of my Mages use it instead. If you do choose to use daggers, don't underestimate Pixie Prick +3. The only thing is, getting it is tough at low levels; but so are most of the other weapons listed below, with the exception of Arbane's Sword +2 and Belm +2, which can be easily found, or Dak'kon's Zerth Blade +2 and Kachiko's Wakizashi +3, which can be purchased (with stolen funds, if necessary).

Daggers:

Pixie Prick +3
Boneblade +4
Firetooth +3 (throwing dagger)
Dagger of the Star +4/+5 (TOB)

Short Swords:

Arbane's Sword +2
Cutthroat +4
Short Sword of Backstabbing +3
Short Sword of Mask +4/+5 (TOB)

Long Swords:

Adjatha the Drinker +2
Blade of Roses +3
Daystar +2
Angurvadal +4/+5 (TOB)
The Answerer +4(TOB)

Scimitars:

Belm +2
Rashad's Talon +2
Scimitar +3: Water's Edge
Spectral Brand +4/+5 (TOB)

Katanas:

Celestial Fury +3
Dak'kon's Zerth Blade +2
Malakar +2
Katana +3 (TOB)
Hindo's Doom +3/+4 (TOB)

Wakizashis & Ninja-Tos (Scimitars):

Kachiko's Wakizashi +3
Scarlet Ninja-To +3 (for Monks only unless you have Use Any Item ability -- TOB)
Usuno's Blade + 4 (TOB)
Yamato +4 (TOB)

When you get the Use Any Item ability at 24th Level, you could use any weapon in the game, so there are others you should consider. (Bear in mind that Swashbucklers don't backstab.) Some people like for their Thieves to wield Carsomyr. I like Soul Reaver myself. But you'd have to level up 16 times before you could put two proficiency points in Two Handed Swords and Two Handed Weapon Style, and I'm not sure it's worthwhile. There are plenty of great weapons in the game.
