NPC's you would have liked to meet.

I thought about this some nights ago, while playing with my all good party, and having no rouge in the party, and because from a roleplaying view i wanted only good character in the team, there was no rouge. That's when i thought, it would be nice if there was a good rouge somewhere for my party. And because this rouge would be of good alignment, he/she would not also backstab, so i though it would have been cool if there was a good "Swashbuckler " somewhere in the game.

What i'm asking is what kind of NPC's do tou wish you could meet in BGII?

Also some background. 'Cause when i think of Shashbackler, i think of pirates, this pirate wouls be found in Brynnlaw, with some pirate also quest linked to him/her. Could be fun.

All the NPCs from BG1. Playable. Instead, Bioware chose to kill off half of them. I really saw no need to introduce new NPCs at all. That said, I think the NPCs of BG2 is what makes the game so great.

I disagree as to that a good thief would not backstab. But a Swashie would have been nice (and rapiers as well), or why not an Assassin?

I think it's odd that in the game, we get to witness the death of nine of them, as well as the endangerment of a tenth and the utter humiliation of an eleventh. Not to mention that Imoen is kidnapped, Jaheira is cursed, and Viconia is nearly burned at the stake. Bioware really has is it in for the BG1 NPCs.

I think Biff the Understudy should have been made a playable NPC. :D While we're talking about BG1 NPCs, I think having the option to take Quayle and Aerie at the same time would have had potential.

Any of the classes/kits could have been given the npc treatment, but given the ammount of work that was obviously involved (voice acting, scipts etc) I'm not suprised there's a few 'gaps'. That's where the mod community comes in...bless 'em.

I agree, a chaotic good swashy would have been great -- or maybe my favourite, Saemon Havarian, swashy/mage IIRC.

I thought Xzar was alive at the docks, was he resurrected or something?

Xan's high spirit is an addition to any group - too bad he only shows up in the tutorials...

What I love about the BG2 NPCs is the creativity that is put into them. The speeches, personality, unique characteristics are really cool.
Minor Spoiler (hidden text)
I especially enjoy the 'different' things you can get with some NPCs that you normally wouldn't with your PC. eg: Viconia's magic resistance, Haer'dalis's resistances, Edwin's extra spells and Jan's inventions. The NPC quests are just brilliant!
The romances seem interesting...I guess the NPCs are one of the biggest attractions of BG2. But on that note, I agree with Onyx that an NPC pure rogue (uhm...except Yoshimo :) ) is sorely missed. Since I don't like Jan too much (he's ugly and smells of turnips :D ), and I enjoy using the full extent of thieves' abilities (backstab rulez!), I find that every game I start I'm usually a rogue or part rogue for the lack of more adequate NPC rogues.
That been said, a cool NPC thief would be an orc assassin (not half-orc) who starts with a killer dagger for backstabbing (after all, daggers in BG2 are not v.good) and can be met in the sewers.
Or, on the good side, perhaps, as Onyx suggested, a human pirate/swashbuckler who, like Captain Hook, has a hook for one hand (so he can't use shields or 2H weapons) but which deals little damage but may be improved upon by Cromwell, or Cespenar (eg:replace iron hook by adamantite hook).
Hmm..just an interesting thought. :D

@Lost one

Yeah, a half-orc Assassin , alignment evil, would be great.
About the captain hook thing well, i think it's just a bit too much. :D But anyway, a good thought. I just would have like to see a good swashbackle, fansy talker, with either 2 daggers or 2 swort swords.

No no, you misunderstand me, friend. :) There is absolutely no harm in asking. My point is that you would do better to just play on, though. However, should you truly want a spolier, I'll give it to you.

OHHH!! I understand, Yes a spoiler would be nice, since I have contemplated killing both Xzar and Edwin simply because they're evil. I'd like to know what I would have ruined.

Why wouldn´t a good thief backstab? Well it does sound a little bit unfair but when you think about it...doesn´t Drizzt Do`Urden use an attack similar to backstab sometimes? It´s always good to be hidden from evil eyes...well,actually I do prefer ID2 sneak attack over backstab cos´ it doesn´t sound so evil...

The lack of a good thief really bothers me. I agree that Jan is annoying (I almost wanted to kill him when he stole Boo from Minsc) and not really that good...Nalia isn´t in a high enough level but Imoen can be boosted with items (still not food enough especilly if you continue to ToB).

I really missed another romance for females...Romance with Anomen? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! But still...I wonder what my boyfriend would say if I had a virtual romance :D (Honestly I think he would just laugh.)

Hey! I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

Don't diss Anomen! He had a hard childhood! And theres no shame in that ( ).

How would people react to you if you were raised in a house where you mother died young, your father is a hopeless drunkard, you're the only one able to take care of your sister, your life is a scattered mess...and all of this at the same time while you're climbing your way up from the lowest ranks of the Order.

I'd be one screwed up child. :o :p

(Besides, he's not so bad if he fails his Test) :D

Now, if you'd like to go off about Kelsey's bad points, then by all means... ;) :D He's just *not* my type of guy.

I miss from BG1:
Alora (She was cool! When Immie died, I took in Alo. Awesome thief!)
Khalid (Not many people like him, but he was an excellent fighter.)
Dynaheir (I can't belive they killed her off! Argh!)
Safana (That traitorous brat! She came to kill me after all I had done for her in BG1...)
Faldorn (The only Druid in Faerun that could come close to Jaheira's abilities.)
Garrick (For some strange, unknown reason, I liked him. )

@ Astafas-
1. When did Ajantis die? I never found him...
2. Coran didn't die in my game. Somehow, I managed to save him before those wolves chewed him up.

If you talk to Xzar, he'll give you a quest to rescue his BG1 companion Montaron from the Harpers. Accept the quest, which leads to another quest for the Harpers, then finish the first one and watch Xzar get killed by a Harper Assassin.

1. You kill him upon entering Windspear Hills the first time. He's one of the Knights who look like monsters. You need to have Keldorn in your party in order to recognize Ajantis.

2. Great! I'll try to save him next time then.
