Happened to me as well, once, with that Cowled Wizard in Brynnlaw. While he was casting a contingency (Mislead and Sanctuary) I managed to somehow get damage through - enough to get bits and pieces all over the place. A chunk of meat appeared where he had died (non-moving), but on top another piece appeared which kept rotating, and casting nasty spells my way. They DID damage me.

When I tried attacking it, I couldn't hit it - my characters simply didn't swing at it, no matter what I did. Also, targetted spells like Magic Missile wouldn't fire off. In the end I turned on Minsc's AI script (I usually do without scripts as I want to be in complete control), and he whacked the remains in one slash.

Must be a bug with wizards. I had the same thing happen in the underdark when I released the people from the iron globe. The chunk usually cast defensive spells but used an offensive spell occasionally. Luckily I could walk around the area, because I couldn't get rid of the remains for anything.
