Drizztical ethics problem

I've just come out of the Underdark, straight into Ch. VI, and instead of heading back to town I thought I'd try to get to Trademeet (always crashed when I went there from Aklatha (sp?)). Anyway to cut a long story short, it loaded and I ran into Drizzt and his fellows.
I know that he's got quite a rep on this board as one of the hardest NPCs in the game, and he's carry.ing some good stuff.
Thing is, I'm a paladin, and am not sure if I can justify just picking a fight with him like that. Also, I've got Jaheira in the party, who obviously respects the guy. So, what I wanna know is, will I get a chance to kill him later, in Bodhi's lair, and I can I do this from an RPG POV? I guess J. would walk out on me, but I could always pick her up again later.
I really want those goodies, but don't wanna cheat or play too much out of character.
BTW, is he actually evil?
I ain't reloading till I get some advice... :-)

I think he's a Neutral Good Ranger

From a role playing Pov and as a paladin? No, I don't think you'd attack him...although a certain other paladin does seem to have a problem with drow, D. is one of the good guys and is famous for it too. If you want to have a go though, just to see what the fight is like, there's no harm in that as you can always reload.
SPOILER: There's no rep loss for killing him, but Jaheira does leave and I'm not sure if you can pick her up again as there are several instances when she can leave permanently and this might be one of them.

I can't see attacking Drizzt if you're playing a good or even neutral party. He's an asset alive, given your next main objective.

Well, if you want Drizzt's stuff, you should wait until he has helped you, then you should kill him and take all his stuff. It's not like he's going to follow you around to get it back now, is it? : :D

SPOILER! (Highlight for details)
It doesn't matter WHEN you kill him...Malchor Harpell is just going to confiscate ALL of his belongings when you enter Athkatla again anyways.

Close...he's actually Chaotic Good (or should be from what I've read and seen in the game Menzoberranzan).

Shadow keeper also has him as chaotic good. There's also a lawful evil version with the avatar of an imp...must be something to do with the Sahaugin city section.

@kopywrite -

I'm pretty sure that although said paladin does.. clash.. with the drow you have in mind, he holds Drizzt in extremely high regard and will remove himself from your party if you try to attack him. I might have tried it out once while experimenting with CLUAConsole. ^_^

Anyway, Drizzt is a renowned hero and a force of good throughout the Realms and there's absolutely no way any good-aligned party, much less one led by a paladin, could possibly justify murdering the guy.

...unless you want his stuff.

Hey, I'm just repeating the argument I hear all the time. :)

Stupid arguments shouldn't get repeated. Of course no good character would ever kill a famous hero only because he desire his equipement.

Shucks!

Thanks for the info folks. Looks like I'll have to let him live ;)
His gear sounds great, but I'm playing the role rather than hacking and slashing everything I can get away with.

Live and let live, at least until my next incarnation...
Pity tho - the fight sounds like fun!

Try the fight and then reload if you think it sounds fun, nothing could be more simple. I also recommend the books about Drizzt and his friends - after having read them I'm sure you would never think about killing him.

Thanks for the suggestion Astafas, but I think I'll wait till I play it through again - it gives me something to look forward to, and I know that if I give myself a 'preview' and kill him, I won't wanna reload after seeing what he's carrying.
By the way, didn't I spot you in the Temple of the Radiant Heart? Nice wallpaper they got there :-) )

As stated several times already, you won't get to keep his equipement anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, if people want to kill Drizzt and take his stuff, let them try. I don't think that people like us will be able to talk them out of it, and they need to see the results for themselves. :)

I said in another thread that BSing people is an evil thing. But to borrow the kind of argument that other people use, "It's fun, and that's all that counts." :)
