What chance do we have of getting a relatively bug-free game?
Or will it be all buggy like most releases nowadays?
God knows, its been in developement long enough.

Try checking the "Woohoo!" thread, I've just asked an owner of the game about bugs...

It's bugged. Seeing as I bought, have more then enough computer power to run it, yet it freezes...

@Aegis - I just played the game for 6 hours straight - no problems at all. Check your drivers, check your install of directx, heck - maybe reload that system. I reload mine 3 or 4 times per year - thanks to Bill Gates wonderful world of windows.
.
By the way - are you running an ATI card - and what resolution are you using?
Seriously - not trying to second guess you - just relaying my experience - rock solid so far...

Here's what I've done so far:
Installed new drivers for my Radeon
Installed new drivers for my Santa Cruz Sound Card
Installed new patch (1.18)
lowered res. from 1600x1200 to 800x600
lowered graphic settings
tried the No-CD method
any ideas?

geeeez.
I could not install this game if I used my CD R-W.
The autorun.exe would not work if the cd was in my CD R-W
I was able to install it with my old Creative DVD drive.
The autorun.exe worked on the DVD drive as well.
wtf.
A highly anticipated game with some big names on the box and these guys still can't fire out a game that doesnt have bugs.
I guess Im an old timer wishing for the days of yesteryear where shiznit worked out of the box w/out the need for a patch.
mer.

Hate to be a naysayer because I am sure that you guys are frustrated - but if the game works flawlessly for me and not for you - the game is not "bugged" - it has to be a hardware/driver conflict. The shear numbers of different hardware configurations out there make it almost impossible for a game to be released that does not have some initial issues for some percentage of the PC users out there.
Hope that didn't sound condescending - I worked for a few years as a service tech for Gateway and one thing I learned was there were always issues with all new software - the only way to avoid this is to go Apple - I would but they are too frickin expensive.
@Aegis - the reason I asked if you have an ATI card is that I have been reading some compaints from ATI owners - if you have a smooth running system otherwise you may have to wait for even newer drivers or a workaround from Bioware. Directx and ATI have had issues for years. By the way I am using a Geforce 2 and have had no problems.
The only two additional things I would suggest are:
- First - Reload Directx 8.1 - this may be necessary to "recertify" your new drivers - if that doesn't work...
- go into msconfig and disable all of your startup items (except systray) - if this works it indicates that you've got something running in the background that is causing problems - this is very common. Hope you get things working soon
