I've got the circlets, but I can't find a bloody Mind-Flayer for the life of me. I killed two that teleported in in the room with the red pools...those weren't my only two, were they? I really hope I didn't blow it somehow. I truly don't want to change into Slayer to get through those doors. I've got a reputation of 18 (heroic) and I want to keep it. Anyone know what to do?

Try leaving the room with the red pools and going back in. The mindflayers sometimes respawn.

I got the impression that every time you enter that room another flayer teleports in.
I'm sure i had more than 2.Though i may have saved and had another go.
If this is the case you'll have to reload.

i found that you not only have to leave the room, but close the door and go back...also the slayer can open the doors

How do you kill mind-flayers before they psionic blast you? I've only got 2 chaotic command spells so i'm a bit limites. Do any of the potions that increase your intelligence work? Can u use brine (i think i remember somebody mentioning that)- if so where can u get it?

lots of questions....i guess i'm just inquisitive!

yeah, those brine potions work. you make them in the pools there in the mind flayer dungeon. i think mind flayers are the hardest to fight...green stone amulets work nicely. i "cheat" a little bit and send in clerics with sanctuary and blade barrier into rooms that are filled with them and take out a few of them at least. mage spell of mordekain's sword will put an end to them pretty quickly...send it in with the cleric, just make sur eyour party is far enough away so they don't get spotted.

1. The Mind Flayers: One mind flayer is respawn there every minute (or so) of real time. If you need a mind flayer and you do not find one in the room then wait a while.
2. The best tool against Mind Flayers seems to be the Greystone Amulet. You can get any number of them: summon Mordekainen Sword and pickpocket it. Summon another Mordekainen Sword, etc.

While we're on this sub-quest.....how do you open the door to the master brain, without turning into the Slayer? I must admit, I didn't spend too long taxing my brain with this one, I just transformed, smashed the thing down, and gaped as The Slayer proceeded to win the battle all by itself.

Shame I was supposed to be good...... Image

Besides the Slayer, a Mindflayer.
