I believe you can do it by using Shadow Keeper. There should be a couple (if not more) of related posts in this forum. Try the search option to find them.

No, you can't without cheating - it'll be difficult though; not too sure if you're running a multiplayer game.

yes, you can:
1. save your game
2. Alt+Esc or quit game
3. go to "save" folder in the game directory
4. find the folder of your last save
5. it to the "mpsave" directory
6. return/statrt the game
7. go to "Multiplayer"
8. select "load game"
9. when the characters arbitration screen comes up, delete the main char an create/import another
10. start game
11. save
12. copy the saved geme to "save"
13. start a single player game
14. load the game you copied.
you lose your reputation by doing this
a good idea might be to give your items to someone else, since when you delete a char, his equipment goes by-by
hope this helps

If you're running a multiplayer game (all pc characters created by you) you can certainly do it with import/export option and by using copy & paste the folder to the single-player saved games.
Then you can use Shadow Keeper to give your newly created character the appropriety level/s, weapon proficiencies, etc., in case you have been proceeded too far in the game.
But I don't know how can this be done in the single-character game.
In any case, Sabre is right: it's cheating!

Well, then do what Mirk posted above. That's what you have to do to replace your character in SINGLE player. To do so you must start a multiplayer game...change you character there and load it again in singleplayer (right Mirk???)

Wouldn't it be easier to just use SK, to alter the look and classes etc.

I don't know. I am not familiar with SK
But what Mirk describes works....(Sk might also work, dunno about that

Hey, with that tool even I must be able to finish the game
(seriously: I have never finished, at least not yet

)

To answer your question, no. You can easily change the class, stats, avatar, etc., but it can be very difficult to make a
complete conversion from one class to another. The reason for this is because a lot of the classes have abilities that are determined by "Effects". If you don't edit their effects properly, the conversion from one class to another won't be complete. There are also things like proficiency points that might get screwed up, or known spells. (For example, what if you give your Mage the wrong spells--some spells have the same names but different codes. Or what if you give a Conjurer spells from the school of Divination?)
I'm not saying it can't be done. In fact, I've done it many, many times. (I've edited the NPCs quite a bit.) All I'm saying is, it's not
easy to get everything right. If you're determined to use ShadowKeeper to make such a conversion, I suggest that you roll up a dummy character to use as a model. Open up both characters in ShadowKeeper, and copy all the "Effects", spells, stats, etc. from your dummy/model to the character you want to play.
Frankly, I think it would be easier just to import a new character into a Multiplayer game, but that's just my opinion, and it doesn't matter to me how you edit your own characters.

@Golem master, I've edited the title of your thread to reflect its content. In the future, please don't put up a bunch of question marks as a title, since it gives no idea about content. Thanks.

Yes you can. All you have to do is take a saved game and move it into the 'mpsave' folder, then load a multiplayer game. At the characer arvitration screen, simply delete the slot for the main character and make a new character. There is a downside to this: this character will start w/ 89000 XP and no items unless (s)he is imported with those items. Hope this helps.

Re:??????????????????
Yes, you can, BUT, you will have to go into game directory, find single player save that you want a new main character in, copy it, click back, make a new folder called mpsave, or if not mpsave you have to get him into the multiplayer game saved folder. go into multipplayer load guy and modify characters. when done get the save from multiplayer, and put it back into singleplayer.
the above is confusing, but it works.

ok, there are a lot of information here!! well i already did what Mirk told me, and it worked. and by the way what does SK do?(Shadow Keeper?)

ShadowKeeper is a game editor software. basicaly it lets you edit pretty much everything on any given saved game, or a saved char. some use it as an "oops... **** it !" tool (lost an item, forgot where - SK brings it back, a quest variable got screwd up, fix it, or something alike). others hack their way into munchkin chars (raise all stats to 25, MR to 150%, etc) or even create new classes/combos. what you do with it is pretty much up to you. there's a link to SK site higher in this thread, or just run a search.
PS for others reading it, PLEASE don't make this into another of those going-nowhere cheasing/cheating is wrong/right discussions.
